We're in the mountains for our last trip before baby and he broke his ankle snowboarding (while I was at the Spa). I'm just about 31 weeks pregnant and dr says he needs to be in a boot on crutches (no weight bearing, no driving) for 6 weeks. This was supposed to be the time we're getting ready for baby and socking money away like thieves but now I'm stressed about going on mat leave and him being on disability (2/3 of his normal wage) on top of him not being able to help with things when I need the help the most (walking the dogs, shovelling snow, taking out garbage etc). Sorry for the whinny post, I just needed to vent because DH already feels so bad I don't want him to know how stressed I'm feeling.

Re: DH broke his ankle
So many ((hugs)) to you, mama.
Some disability payments are not subject to tax. So it's really just the piece you would normally pay to taxes that you lose. The downside - again at least in the US - is that you have to pay for the benefits that your employer gives you out of pocket. My big one was health insurance - so maybe in Canada you don't have to worry about that!
Hopefully Canada tax works this way! I am so sorry you are having to deal with this!
It's too bad about the money thing, I totally get that. But if he's on disability, maybe it means he'll be able to help with some more things around the house before baby comes so you don't have to. Washing & folding baby clothes, chopping food to prep meals... If he's fit enough to snowboard, I'm imagining he can do these one-legged.
Hugs. You can do it, lady!
