Pregnancy pillows that allow back or stomach sleeping?

I know there was a post about pregnancy pillows back in Dec but I didn't really see an answer for my specific question. Has anyone found a pillow that allows them to comfortably/safely sleep on their back and/or stomach? I get so cramped sleeping on my sides and I'm sure any pregnancy pillow will help with this too, but being able to sleep in another position would be even better. I am considering this pillow - has anyone used it, or do you have any other recommendations? Thanks!

Re: Pregnancy pillows that allow back or stomach sleeping?

  • I use a pillow under one hip to sleep on my back. It won't work later on (in my experience), but for now it's pretty good.
  • Loading the player...
  • Thanks, I've been doing that too and hoping it's sufficient to take the pressure off. Seems ok so far but it seems even better to have a body/pregnancy pillow for later on.
  • I think @carolyngrace‌ has this pillow.

I would love to sleep on my back again, side sleeping gives me neck pain. Let me know if this works for you, might consider one for myself

  • I'm dying to sleep on my back. I've always been a back sleeper so this is killing me!

Same! That's why I'm seriously considering buying the pillow I linked above, because it says it can be used for back sleeping?
  • I adore my snoogle, and comfortably sleep on my sides, back and sometimes partial stomach.

I have this pillow. I really love it! I still can't sleep on my belly or back, but it makes sleeping on my sides easier!

But with that type, do you have to flip over the entire pillow when you want to roll over?
  • I think that's the pillow I used with my first. I loved it then, but I haven't used it yet this time.
  • I have the mini snoogle, which I can set up in many different ways. Sometimes I use it to prop for back sleeping with my torso elevated, or sometimes I prop up on my back-ish but leaning more toward one side but still on my back, just not directly flat.

Good memory! I do have that pillow. I don't think it would work for stomach sleeping, but you can do kind of a side/stomach hybrid by putting one leg over the side... I'm still fairly comfortable on my back for now.

I have a snoogle and don't flip the pillow with me. I face the length of the pillow, then roll over and put my back to the length when I need to change positions. Works well for me and I can do it with minimal effort while asleep.

Still haven't perfected back sleeping (interested in how you ladies do that?) But stomach sleeping (it's more like downward facing side-laying, but it gets the job done) with the snoogle is easy and comfy.

So you can successfully use it to sleep on your back? That's what I was hoping to hear!

Interesting... Maybe I'll have to consider this one too. It definitely seems like it takes up less space which is a plus

I do think it helps. But also I'm still ok on my back with regular pillows so it's hard to tell! but yeah, you can kind of use it to tilt to the side (or prop one side up), so I think it helps for back sleeping.

p.s. it's HUGE. We have a queen sized bed and it pretty much fills it up :)

  • I use a standard body pillow and it works well for me to sleep somewhat on my tummy. I drape myself over it and am half sideways. DH called it a hubby replacement lol.

  • Haha yeah that's definitely something I'm afraid of... But if it helps me sleep, maybe hubby can deal, haha.

I was so surprised, DH was actually the one that got me my snoogle!

We watched that movie The Back Up Plan with J-Lo a few years back, and he was shocked and upset by the body pillow. He swore he'd never be ok with me having one. I think he had a major change of heart once he saw me so uncomfortable, though.

Also, @robynjeannette‌, the snoogle really does take up very little space compared to some of these other ones. Definitely bigger than no pillow at all, but I'm impressed with how little it seems to have impacted our sleeping situation.

  • @elbowpasta‌ I've never seen that movie but am really curious as to what you're referring now haha.
  • Thanks everyone for the responses, they definitely are helpful!
