Pregnant after a Loss

My very overdue Birth Story

Well ladies here is my extremely overdue birth story.

Short Version: We had a very unexpected holiday surprise and my water broke Christmas night at midnight so the morning of 12/26. At 1:44pm on 12/26/14 we welcomed baby boy into the world weighing 6lbs 7oz and 19 1/2 inches long.

Long Version: After having a very large dinner and even more desserts on Christmas I went to bed at around 10pm. At no point did I feel contractions or feel any different than I had been. I woke up to pee at midnight and climbed back into bed when I felt this huge gush of water. In total disbelief I woke my husband up and told him I thought my water had just broke and he looked at me and said "no it didn't." I went back into the bathroom and sat on the toilet because water was still pouring out of me and he ran around the house frantically trying to get a hospital bag packed. After about 20 min of craziness we jumped into the car and headed to the hospital. We had one of those rides that you see in the movies, my husband was driving like a maniac sliding through red lights and driving 80 miles an hour. We had not even had our tour of the maternity ward yet so thankfully a nurse came and got us from the ER and brought us up. I got all checked in and in my room when they checked me the first time and I was dilated to 3 and 90% effaced. I labored for about 7 hours before I was checked again and I had dilated to 5 at that point I started to ask about my epidural.  I got my epidural about an hour later and everything was pretty smooth sailing from then on out. I was surrounded by family which helped the time pass and she checked me a little over an hour later and I had dilated to 9 and the nurse said we should just wait another hour and let him come down naturally. Within an hour it was time to push,my mom on one leg and my husband on the other. I pushed with the nurse for a little while and then actually had to stop pushing and wait for the Dr because he was right there and ready to come out. My Dr was of course on leave for Christmas but I really liked the on call Dr. She came into the room and about 6 pushes later our little one was out. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I have always been petrified of giving birth and I am not really sure how I got so lucky to have a smooth delivery but I am sure thankful.
Our little boy joined our family at 1:44pm on 12/26/14 weighing 6lbs and 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. He is absolutely perfect. I still cant believe he is actually here and I get to hold him whenever I want. :)
He has some blood sugar issues at the hospital which made for 2 VERY long days. Our poor little boy got poked over 20 times but finally at 3am on the 2nd day he passed all the tests he needed too. Other than that he is perfectly healthy and gaining weight like a champ. Sorry this has taken me so long I have been busy jumping into the world of motherhood and loving every moment of it as trying as it can be at times.

I want to thank all of you ladies for the support you have provided me throughout the last 9 months. It has meant the world to me. I wish you all nothing but the best and hope to be on here again once I get a little more free time.
