  • Just started Double Bind for my book club. Haven't actually managed to read a book in quite awhile. Fingers crossed for this one! Trying to decrease my mindless tv watching, so this one may happen.
  • I just finished re reading the Time Travelers Wife. I could read it forever. I am looking for my next book. Recommendations?

  • As Always, Julia. It's a collection of letters written by Julia Child and Avis DeVoto as they struck up a friendship via correspondence. I like it because it's easy to read in short bits so it works with nursing, when LO naps, etc.
  • I just finished Amy Poehler's book Yes Please. It was really good. She is fantastic. Next on my list is Jim Gaffigan Food: A Love Story. I am also reading Sweet Sleep here and there based off soneone suggesting it on one of the sleeping threads.
  • Smiles to Go by Jerry Spinelli. I'm reading it out loud to DD to see if it would be a good read aloud for my classroom.
  • I just finished The Great Gatsby last week, and I read Gone Girl the week before that. I need something new! But I'm going back to work this week, so I probably won't have time to read anymore.

  • Fodor's Germany travel guide in preparation for our trip this Saturday!

Other than that, news magazines and Wine Wars.
    It's a girl! Due November 22, 2014
  • Slutty romance. Lots of book porn! Don't judge.
I also read a lot of this; I recently finished a few series by Julia Kent, and I downloaded a bunch of authors that were referenced in there. I should be set for a while. :)
  • Just finished the birth house now starting the glass castle

    Loved the glass castle.

I'm reading a book of essays, Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca solnit. I have good and bad things to say about it

  • I just started reading Man Up by Ross Matthews, it's pretty funny and mindless. I also have a Jodi Picoult book that I need to read. She is by far my fav author!

Loved Gone Girl but can't get into any others by Gillian Flynn

  • @Jpinky9 She is my favorite author also! I love Handle with Care.

I haven't read that one yet!! There are so many of hers that I love!

Handle with Care is sure to make you cry. It's about a woman who sues her OB/GYN for not diagnosing her daughter's debilitating disease early enough in utero for her to have the option of an abortion.

I have read almost all of her books.
Oh gosh, yeah I don't know if I could read that now!
  • I'm impressed with all the fun reading. The only books I've been reading lately are The No-cry Sleep Solution and the Wonder Weeks.
    TTC 3/2012; IUI 2/26/14; EDD 11/23/14; DD born 11/21/14!!!
  • I just finished the maze runner series although I should read it's prequel. I'm also in the middle of the outlander series

Oh yeah, that one's definitely an emotional read. I really liked House Rules, although the suggestion that one character's autism was the result of vaccinations irritated me. Her newest one was really interesting, too.
  • @SweetMelissa5 What is her newest?
It's Leaving Time; it came out last October and is about a girl who's looking for her mother.

Yeah I really liked House Rules too and Change of Heart, and Plain Truth! I could list so many :)

Not judging at all! You should see my collection of smutty books. Try Kat Martin!

Just finished reading Gone Girl and just saw the movie. Both were pretty good!
  • American sniper and once I'm done "Never, Never" by Colleen Hoover and Taryn Fisher. Colleen Hoover is by far my favorite author. Check her out if you like contemporary romance novels (:

I love Colleen Hoover! I am reading Ugly Love right now.

Have you read anything from Abbi Glines?

No I haven't! I will have to check her out. Have you read Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire?? Super good.

So is the Breathing (Maya Banks) and Thoughtless (S.C. Stephens) Series.

I have a ton of books on Goodreads if you are on there :)

Eta: my name is Chesney on there, If you can't find me PM me!
  • @amadkins197‌ I went on a Russian kick a few years ago too! I read Anna Karenina, I'm sure I'd have to read it several more times to get everything out of it :) I ended up making a little family tree type chart to keep nearby as reference because all the characters with their multiple names got confusing!

@songbirdsinging55‌ I highly recommend As Always, Julia! It's really interesting, especially if you are into history and/or cooking. Both ladies had strong political ties and discuss it quite a bit, but there's also a ton of cooking talk as Julia is writing her cookbook.

I also have The Time Traveler's Wife on my bookshelf and have been meaning to get to it for way too long....maybe that will be up next!

@amadkins197 I love that one!  I started in on The Fiery Cross over the summer.  But I stopped because I wanted to read the maze runner series then my mom who is borrowing my books finished  book four and wanted 5 so I let her have it.  Need to pick back up on it.

Yes I have read both of those by Jamie McGuire! I have the next book (Beautiful Oblivion) that is on my list to read.

    I LOVED the Thoughtless series!

I will have to check out the Breathing series. I haven't read those yet. I swear I spend way too much money on books.

I will see if I can figure out how to look you up on goodreads. I have a ton of books on there as well.

I'm a weirdo and read the young adult novels. Come February 10th my nose will be stuffed in the Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead, it's the last book in that series.

I love Richelle Mead! Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series!

I love young adult novels too so you are not weird to me :)
  • After reading all the posts about Time Traveler's Wife, I might have to find my copy. I've had it for a while, but I haven't read it.
  • I'm feeling really old fashioned...the last book I read was Old Fashioned girl by Louisa May Alcott. I was thinking about getting all my old books out of the attic and reading them! :)

I literally read the breathing series in 5 days, I couldn't put it down!! Lol :)
  • I miss working at Half Price Books, I was always on top of what was good to read and actually had time to pick up a book. I'm reading The Hobbit out loud to Little Miss, but other than that I haven't really made the time. I've been trying to read a WWII book since before baby was born, and I think I made it past the first chapter a week ago. I don't even remember the name of the book, what it was about, or where I put it at the moment. Oops. I give all of you props for reading! I really really need to make the time. I find my vocabulary and thinking skills suffer whenever I stop reading for a long period.

I love Jodi Picoult. The last book I read of her's was My sister's keeper. I ended up a puddle on the floor. Wasn't such a fan of House Rules though.

I've just finished re-reading Lionel Shriver's We need to talk about Kevin and starting On Beauty by Zadie Smith
  • I've been somewhat obsessed with crime stories so all of my current reads are about high profile crimes  I just finished a book about the Jonbenet Ramsey murder investigation and am currently reading one about the Laci Peterson case.
