Age: 7w 5d (11/24) Sleeping: most of the time, Myles will sleep around a 4 hour stretch and then 2-3 hour stretch. He goes to sleep between 9-11 That's as close to a pattern as I can get, and I'm happy with it. He sleeps swaddled in a co-sleeper. Naps are completely random and are usually on my lap. Eating: FF. 3.5 oz every 2-3 hours on demand Milestones: more smiles. Love it! Still 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers, but I'm wondering how long those will last. Questions: how was/is the 8 wk growth spurt? I think he just started. He wants to eat more, sleep more, and screech more. Other: have any of you looked into the Dunstan (sp?) baby language? I've seen it mentioned here by a few people, so I googled it. I can't figure out the difference in Myles's crying noises. I can usually figure out what he wants, but not because I can isolate the sounds. I'm fascinated by it though.
Sleeping: She was doing great until she hit the 6-week growth spurt, around 7 weeks, and that really set us back. We finally got back on our schedule but the vaccines she got this morning are doing a number on her.
Eating: We're back on schedule, post-growth spurt, so she eats every four hours during the day, and at night usually goes 4.5, then 4, then whatever's left until morning, waking on her own.
Milestones: She's finally grabbing things and swatting toys and her ball more consistently. The smiles are still few and far between. Also, we moved her bassinet to the basement--she's fully transitioned to her crib in her room!
Questions: For those EBF, are your babies still pooping consistently? I know it's normal to be less frequent, but she's gone three days now with nothing but a lot of gas. It was a sudden drop from 3-4x a day. The doc said not to be concerned.
Working on: Recovering from her shots! She is not a happy camper.
Other: We got her passport and Global Entry. Off to Germany in a week!
Sleeping: he's getting a predictable schedule lately. He goes to bed between 9:30-10:45 and wakes up around 3:00 am for a middle of the night feeding. Most nights he will go right back to sleep. This has been super helpful since DH and I are back to work. We just switch shifts, every other night one of us wakes up to feed him. It has saved my sanity this week to share this with H. He naps in large chunks in the afternoon. He's up for an hour and down for two or three. Eating: formula, about 3-4 ozs every 2 1/2- 3 hours. Some mornings he eats 5 ozs, this only started happening on Monday.
Milestones: he's gotten so expressive! He laughs and coos to us. Last night he got so excited at the lights on the ceiling that he was yelling happily at them. Adorable. He's holding his head up longer and pushing up on his hands during tummy time.
Questions: he just started getting cradle cap. Anyone else have this!? What did you use??
Working on: spending more time on his belly. Reading to him now that he can focus on the pictures (sorta).
AW: I went back to work this week and none of us had a meltdown. In fact it felt pretty good! Other:
@Jan1214 - I just checked out the Dunstan thing and it's so cool! DH and I have recognized a couple of LO's cries already and she just confirmed it! Awesome.

We got vaccines this morning and she just now started to seem really uncomfortable. Just gave her some infant Tylenol and she passed right out. Poor babies!
Age: 8.5wks Sleeping: really well! Usually sleeps 11:30-6 or 7. Eating: EBF on demand. She usually eats every 2-3hrs during the day and then her last feeding is around 10:30pm before bed. Milestones: sleeping through the night, holding her head up, being more vocal and smiling! Working on: transitioning to her crib next week. We will start with afternoon naps next week and then hopefully have her in there at night in the next week or two. Also still working on tummy time AW: see pic below!
Sleeping: Sleeps pretty well on average. But the last few nights I haven't been getting the 4+ hour stretches and he's been having shorter stretches as morning approaches. Oh do I miss the 4 hours.
Eating: Still does some eating every hour on the hour but starting to get some 1.5, 2 hour stretches without him being crashed out in a carrier.
Milestones: SO many smiles. Getting some coos and the start if what will turn into babbling. I think he has started doing mini push-ups. And maybe a couple giggles/laughs. Oh, and some pees and poops in the toilet. Not sure how much was luck and how much is the EC cueing...
Questions: He has his two month appointment on the 20th and they said I can give him Tylenol before if I want or wait for symptoms and I'm torn, I'd rather he not be in pain but it seems like the shots don't bother all LO's. Should I give him some as a preventative measure?
Also, anyone else's LOs having a stuffy nose only at night?
Working on: Trying to make sure he gets a good variety of activity everyday. Trying to make sure he doesn't stay awake too long because he's at his fussiest when he is overdue for sleep. Trying to continue with some EC training and I'm finally trying to start tracking more than just feedings so I can catch if there is a pattern to establish a routine off of.
AW: I've started running again. I'm taking it super slow but it's a start. I ran for 5 minutes the first time and 7 the second time. Hoping I can be ready to run a 5k in about 30 minutes by 2/14 for the local Heart Throb race. Also, attaching two pictures of LO where he was SO happy and moving a bunch. Blurry. But they make my heart want to burst.

My LO definitely has a stuffy nose at night. My ped said it's because of the heat and dry air. I just gently use a q-tip in the morning and swap the boogers out verrrry gently.
As far as vaccines go, I was told NOT to give Tylenol before. We got the shots at noon at by 5pm she was fussy so I have her Tylenol. It helped tremendously. She seems ok now but will prob give her another dose at midnight. They also recommend a warm bath to soothe the legs.
Eating: EFF- She is drinking anywhere between 3oz and 6oz at any feeding but usually it is about 4oz.
Sleeping: She is sleeping like a trouper. Good to have her up more during the day and she goes to sleep between 9.30PM and 11PM and will sleep through to between 6AM and 7.30AM.
Milestones: Sleeping through the night, smiling, more aware of all of us around her. Pooping better. Gets less caught up with gas. Holds head up so can sit in her floor seat.
Questions: Anyone elses LO started suddenly being obsessed with their hands? She is constantly trying to put her hand in her mount even when not hungry!
Working on: Going to transition to crib too (hopefully). Need to get better with tummy time as she hates it.
AW. Will attach below.
Yes! We just clipped her nails last week for the first time so removed her mittens and all she does is suck on her hands now!!
@runnershan We use Florastor Kids (what the doc suggested) powder sachets in 1 oz of pumped milk 2x per day. We got the pediatrician to write a rx so even though we still have to pay for it (not covered by insurance), we can use the HSA. It is tutti frutti flavored and that's the only option. I just saw today that CVS makes an infant probiotic powder that is unflavored. Florastor has been really great but we're considering going off it now for a bit to see if she still needs it.
@staugustinewedding We just gave her the second dose of infant tylenol. Boy does it help! She's finally sleeping. Poor thing.
@Carebella The shots didn't start bothering LO until four hours later so I'd hold off because that would be an extra dose that you might not need. My doc said 40mg every 4 hours, which with the tylenol we got turned out to be 1.25 ml. Re: running, I've started running or cycling indoors almost every day. I'm super slow, going 5.2 mph (instead of your goal of 6), but am up to 3.5 miles at a time. I am not a runner at all so I'd say start slow and I think you'll add speed and mileage faster than you think!
@howin23 That's awesome that your up to 3.5! And managing most days! I wanted to run everyday but it took three days before I managed my second. I'd actually work towards faster than a 6mph pace but the treadmill DH got maxes out at 6... whoops. Before my BFP I was managing 9 minute miles.
And I think I will plan to hold off on the Tylenol but make sure I have it handy. Thanks
Age: 7w5d Sleeping: His naps are more like a short AM nap, a long period of sleeping and eating for 3-4 hours in the middle of the day, PM nap, then bedtime around 6:30, but it ends up being more like a nap until 7:30, then for the next couple hours I struggle to get him to stay asleep. Eating: Pretty much BFing every 2 hours around the clock. Sometimes a 3 hour stretch during the day and 3-4 hour stretch when he finally goes down around 10pm. He also does some crazy cluster feeding before bedtime when I feed him 10 times or so. (eat, fall asleep, wake up pissed, eat, fall asleep, wake up pissed...) Milestones: I got the best smiles from him today. He was laying on a blanket and craned his neck to look at me, then when I made eye contact with him he was so happy he gave me the biggest smile. At 6pm, DH isn't home from work yet, I need to start making dinner for DS1 because he's whining that he's hungry, and LO is getting fussy and wants to cluster feed and put himself to bed. AW: LO was really close to rolling over today. He was trying so hard. He is so strong, and I really feel like he's developing faster than DS1 did because of changes I've made (giving him lots of time on his back on a blanket to move his limbs freely and explore his body and environment) as opposed to constantly holding him, having him in a swing, etc. like I did with DS1). My LO got her shots yesterday and I asked the doctor about giving her the children's Tylenol for discomfort afterwards, and he discouraged it because there are some studies that show that the Tylenol can actually prevent the absorption of the vaccine into the body. He said if she developed a fever over 101.5 then I could use the Tylenol.

Interesting, I wish my doc had mentioned that. She was soo upset though that I might have given it to her anyway though. I just looked it up and I think this is the study you mean.
Sleeping: So, last week we were spoiled by a baby who sttn for 5 days in a row (5-6 hours every night) and started napping really well during the day but as suspected (too good to be true) it doesn't mean we won the baby sleep lottery because the last two nights she's back to 3.5 hours being the longest stretch and naps being a huge struggle. I have no idea what was going on last week.. growth spurt? Wonder week?
Eating: EBF, she usually eats every 2-3 hours. The past few days she's been eating a LOT. Not more frequently just for much longer. So last week she slept a ton and this week she's eating a ton. Parenthood is just a series of worrying about things that are probably not a problem:) Its teaching me to just go with the flow…
Milestones: So many more smiles. And smiles for us, which is really awesome. She'll smile when I go to pick he up in the MOTN --she pauses the crying to smile. Such smart creatures our LO, can't stay mad about interrupted sleep when I have a precious baby smiling at me!!! Questions: We are flying next week. Its a short flight but I'm a little nervous, have any of you flown with LO? Any tips?
Working on: Figuring out the sleep secrets. Also, we'll be transitioning from RNP to crib in the next week. I'm a little worried because she's never really slept on a purely flat surface. I hope its an easy adjustment.
AW: I've gone to a few mom and baby yoga classes. Last week the mom next to me told me my LO wins the best behaved baby award. Its silly but I was proud.

Age: 7w4d Sleeping: I think he sleeps pretty good. Usually goes to sleep around 9 or 10 wakes up to eat for about 10 minutes around 3 then sleeps again til 7 or 8 Eating: I have no idea how much he eats! He eats whenever he wants. I usually BF except sometimes in the afternoons to free myself up I give him a bottle of milk I've pumped. Usually he only drinks 2oz but if he acts like he's still hungry he has taken up to 4oz Milestones: He's very smiley and he's workin pretty hard on rolling over - not so much a fan of tummy time. Questions: how long does everyone do tummy time for every day? Working on:being more consistent with tummy time Other: I had to move his car seat straps and now he is completely out of newborn clothes. He even fits one of his 3 -6 mo onsies. I wanna cry! Growing up too fast! AW:
@silverwings72 G had some cradle cap as well. We used the aveeno 1% hydrocortisone on the back of her head and it went away in 2 days. It was wonderful. Just don't use it on the face at all.
Age: 8w 5d (11/18)
Sleeping: she's sleeping through the night when she sleeps with me. Bassinet is another story. She goes down about 10 and sleeps til 3, then back down til 7. I wish she would sleep more in her bed.
Eating: BF and pumping through the day at work. She's taking 3-3.5 oz during the day at daycare but 4oz at night. She is taking some formula at her night feeding because she's still so small and the pedi is worried she's not gaining enough weight.
Milestones: we finally weigh 8lbs! And she is cooing and "telling mommy stories". Her smiles are gorgeous and light up my day. She's also holding her head up more during tummy time and isn't so fussy.
Questions: none right now
Working on: gaining weight and getting out of the newborn clothes. The 0-3 clothes swallow her and she hates it haha
AW: I love the sound of her coos. She's staying awake more so I get tons of interaction in the evenings when I get home. It makes going to work a tad bit easier.
Other: I started working out again. I use the elliptical at home during the week and then going to the gym on the weekends. DH's work schedule makes weekends suck so I have to rotate. I had 16lbs to lose to get back to my pp weight and I lost 3 this week. Yay!!
Age: 7 weeks, 3 days (11/27) Sleeping: On average he sleeps 6-7 hours. Last bottle is at 10:30p and he wakes up around 6. He sleeps in his crib at night but tends to wake up if I try to put him there for naps. Eating: EFF. 5-6 oz every feeding, every 4-4.5 hours. Sometimes 7 at that last one at night. LO while in the 98th percentile for height was behind in weight, so he has some weight to put on. That and he's just a hungry boy! Milestones: All the smiles! Not so much cooing yet but he does make this 'ahhhh' sound a lot. Super alert, starting to notice his toys. Also, he rotates himself during tummy time. Not rolling over but if he starts out facing one direction he'll wriggle around till he faces the other. Questions: None right now. It helps to lurk on the older babies. For the most part I feel prepared when things come up. Working on: Sleeping unswaddled. Our pedi recommends to stop by 2 months. Anyone else's pedi say anything about that? AW: Yes! Working out! I'm starting slow so I do 15 minute workouts on dailyburn and I do a couple of the 30 Day Fitness challenges. Right now I'm doing the easy squat and crunches one.
@carafern We're flying for the first time with LO this Saturday, but it's a long flight (DC to Munich). -If yours is short there probably isn't a bassinet option, but some of the bigger planes have them in the bulkhead row. -Our pediatrician said just to make sure she is sucking on the ascent and descent, so we're going to give her a bottle each time. -We are also going to ask anyone sitting next to us who appears sick to switch seats with a healthy person. I know that will be awkward, but whatever, we need to protect LO. If it's a man we might also just let him know that I'll be breastfeeding so that if it will make him uncomfortable he can switch with a woman. -What I'm struggling with is toys to entertain LO that won't drive everyone else mad (e.g., anything that rattles or crinkles).
@SarahHeck we just moved the car seat straps too! It feels like such a big milestone. -TSA allows you to bring bottles through if you declare it before you start the screening process. -We're going to gate check the stroller with car seat.
I'm ebf and working from home so bottles aren't neccessary but we give her one every other day or so. I know sometimes LOs decide they don't like bottles if they get out of the habit.

@jlk6 We were doing 2 bottles a day but are now down to one. Hubby feeds her around 3am with a full bottle and then, since we were doing probiotics twice a day, I was giving her an ounce in a bottle around 3pm and then bf the rest of that feed. Now that we're down to probiotics once a day, she only gets a bottle at 3am with hubby and then if we're out in public. I'm just not comfortable nursing in public unless it's absolutely necessary (e.g., upcoming long flight), so for those I pump.
My choices aside, our pediatrician said to try to give her a bottle 2-3x a week to ensure that she stays comfortable with it.
@AngelaL814 do you put the cream on and then brush it loose or how do you get it off after you do the cream? I use Mustala but I don't think I am doing it right because I don't "pick" or brush it off when soft.(Kinda afraid to)
I put the cream on at night after her bath and rub it in. The next morning, I run over her head with a warm wet cloth and then brush her hair.
@silverwings72 for cradle cap my pediatrician said to use baby oil. It worked well for us. During the bath we put the oil on her hair and use the comb sponge thing. Her hair was greasy while we were doing that but after two or three baths it was all better.

Eating: I have no idea how much he eats! He eats whenever he wants. I usually BF except sometimes in the afternoons to free myself up I give him a bottle of milk I've pumped. Usually he only drinks 2oz but if he acts like he's still hungry he has taken up to 4oz
Milestones: He's very smiley and he's workin pretty hard on rolling over - not so much a fan of tummy time.
Questions: how long does everyone do tummy time for every day?
Working on:being more consistent with tummy time
Other: I had to move his car seat straps and now he is completely out of newborn clothes. He even fits one of his 3 -6 mo onsies. I wanna cry! Growing up too fast!
AW:
Yay!!
Sleeping: On average he sleeps 6-7 hours.
RL smiling!!!
My choices aside, our pediatrician said to try to give her a bottle 2-3x a week to ensure that she stays comfortable with it.
