January 2013 Moms

It's super cold out

for those of you in the same boat, what kinds of weekly activities are on your schedule so that you and your LOs don't flip out from all the cabin fever?

We kind of became hermits last year due to the frigid temps in Chicago, so I'm trying to be prepared through April.

On our list so far:
Story time at the library
Soccer (once a week starting in Feb)
Riding (when it's not freezing)
Indoor playground
Children's museum
Meeting friends for lunch/play dates

Anything cool I should add?
Our little Samosa arrives in January!

  • I've just set up a couple of weekly play dates. One at my house every Friday morning and one at a local Centre on Monday and Wednesday mornings. One gets me out of the house and the other ensures I keep the house tidy. Lol! Hopefully spring comes early this year and we can get out for walks sooner than we could last year!

  • Uhg, we have nothing really here in small town iowa. But our d/c does a great job taking the kids to park and recreation activities. Tiny Total gym, story hour at the library. I think I'm going to take time off work in the spring to do indoor swim lessons with J. At age three there are a lot more activities, Tuesday Turtles which is an hour nature activity every Tuesday in the spring and summer. And there is a little artist series too in the fall.

We are expecting a heat wave today with a high of 45!! It is going to be muddy though because all the snow will melt.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • SLEDDING!!! :)

We also take out tupperware bowls and sand toy shovels and make "cake" with snow. :)

Children's museum, Target (like every week), library, play dates.

We also rotate toys and do a bunch of art projects at home.

  • @michieu79 i'd love to just take her places, but being working parents, the only chance we have to take her anywhere is a weekend or holiday....the same time everyone else would go :(

or if i take a day off and pull her out of dc for the day.....

sometimes i get jealous of all you sahm moms that get to do fun things with your kids...my sister takes her to the mall the zoo and stuff when it's nice and i'm jealous of that too

  • I have nothing more to add that hasn't already been mentioned. I work 4 days a week so I only have my LO during the day on Fridays and the weekends. H works a lot of weekends on side work so a lot of times, it's just me and DS. We hit up the local inflatable playground place (which he LOVES) and do playdates sometimes but really we do a lot of crafts and art - play doh, painting, coloring, that sort of thing. I just can't wait until spring when we can hit up the zoo and outside stuff!
