Bath & Nighttime routine ?

Hi ladies - my DS is 4 weeks and we are going to start giving him a "real" bath vs. a sponge bath.  How often do you bathe your DC?  We would like to make it part of our nighttime routine, but I have heard it is not good (especially in the winter months) to bathe your LO everyday.  What are you guys doing?  TIA!

Re: Bath & Nighttime routine ?

  • I usually do bathtime every other night or sometimes every 2 days for now.

  • I bathe DS every other day. There's no way we could make it part of a nighttime routine. It doesn't caIm him at this point. He's wide awake and talking and playing plus we're still getting use to baths so it's still kinda difficult. I bathe him in the morning. Maybe when he's older, we can try making it part of his betime routine.

  • we bathe every other day in the morning. ?every so often, we'll do a nighttime bath, especially if i have an early appointment the following day and won't have time to bathe him in the AM.
  • I bathe her every evening.  From 6:45pm to around 7, she's in the tub.  Then I give her a little massage with either the Burt's Bees lotion or the Aveeno Lavender lotion while I talk to her and tell her each body part that I'm massaging.  Diapering, swaddling, then her last bottle and she's asleep by 7:30 and sleeps until around 2 or 3am.  I've heard that some people that bathe every night only use soap every other evening to help reduce dryness but we haven't had that issue.  Good luck!

  • Nicolaus gets a bath about every three days. His skin would be so dry if I bathed him every day. My Ped said that was fine. Of course I wipe his face and anything else that may get messy every day Big Smile If we give him a bath at night it would be after he eats because he spits up a lot and would end up making it pointless, plus the bath makes him sleepy. So I will feed him around 7, wait for any spit up then head to the bath so he would be in bed between 8:30 and 9:30.
