June 2015 Moms

Off topic completely...

my hubby is at work so I decided to watch a scary movie by myself in the dark haha I chose ouija. It looked like a scary movie, not a lot of movies are scary anymore, BUT... This one is scary. I personally would NEVER.. Ever touch one. Real or not. But is a ouija even real? Or does it have to with the mind playing tricks and making you move it and see what you want to believe. Regardless an answer is never touch one. My mom played one when she was very young I'm guessing with her siblings.... She said she tried to throw it away, and it ended up back where it was before and she could never explain how, they finally sold it at a yard sale. I've had tons of strange things happen as I was growing up in my home till I moved out last year. She hasn't mentioned anymore activity but idk why she's bring it up anyway. Thought crossed my mind as I was watching this movie, any thoughts?

  • I don't believe in ouija but that story about your mum's board is a good creepy story! I love horror movies so I might give this movie a go. Scariest movie for me was The Ring. What's everyone's scariest movie?

  • Rosemary's Baby. I had to wake up DH to comfort me. Haha! And I watched this before kids, can't imagine watching it pregnant.
  • Never watched that movie. I'm scared to go to sleep now lol I'm sleeping with the lights on till hunny gets home, which is like at 5am
  • I hate scary films! It's not so much while your watching them and your jumping out of your skin every 10 seconds, it's the week later when your walking to your car in the dark or your home alone and you hear a bump and all the scariest bits come flooding back! I'm convinced that "pregnant lady found murdered with devil markings on body" will be on the front pages of all the newspapers! I'm such a wimp! x
  • I've heard many a creepy story over those boards.

  • Call me crazy but I'm big into researching paranormal events. I've done my fair share of "ghost hunting" at different locations that are speculated to be haunted. I do believe that some articles like that of a Ouija board can definitely be catalysts for paranormal activity so I understand how that movie could freak you out.

    What's everyone's scariest movie?

The last movie that creeped me out was Lords of Salem. My boyfriend calls me a horror movie junkie. Those are generally my favorite type of movies. He's happy that I would much rather go to the movies to watch a Rob Zombie directed flick than a Nicholas Sparks inspired movie any day.

  • I believe in oujia boards too and refuse to touch one. I would NEVER have one in the house. I used to love scary movies but I'm such a wuss now!
  • I haven't seen a good scary movie in so long! I can't remember the last one that actually scared me... As far as oujia boards go...I need a nope octopus for that one!
  • Oujia boards are so scary.  I haven't seen that movie, but I remember using one at a sleepover in middle school and it scared the shit out of me.  Never again.  I was totally freaked out watching The Exorcist, The Ring, and any movies that feature little kids as the devil or evil.

I don't mind scary movies but they aren't my favorite.

    As far as Ouija boards:

I think inviting spirits, etc into your life is just a bad idea.
Thank you for the nope octopus! And inviting spirits into your home is a big hell no!
  • Idk why I love scary movies as much as I do? Even the ones that aren't that scary, it's even more scary after the movie is over cause you think you see or feel or hear things. When I was little till this day I swear my moms house is haunted. Faucets would turn on, I'd hear footsteps running up and down the halls on our hall mat. I'd feel cold presences and feel things sitting at the edge of my bed and just staring at me. It would play tricks on me making me think it was my husband talking to me, the last thing I heard was growling at my door in the dark. I moved out shortly after. My parents aren't fazed by it. Idky, guess they have no choice? They'd see apparitions n shadows. Yet I love scary movies. I always regret watching it after, but dang Ouija was a SCARY movie. Hubby is finally home and I'm still a little scared, I couldn't stop dreaming about it till now. And what makes matters worse is these vivid dreams I already have from this pregnancy....
  • I've always been interested in the paranormal...@Claire&Cub I totally hold my hands up to a ghost hunt or 2 as well! Its always fascinated me...

However someone bought a Ouija board for my birthday (err, thanks?!) knowing my interest in all things spooky but it freaks me the hell out. I won't touch it, look at it, have it anywhere I can stumble across it let alone use it! Shudder. They keep asking if we should try it sometime but I'm in the "nope nope nope nope" camp!
  • I tried one when I was in high school but it never worked for us. My mom hated it though and wouldn't even let me bring it into our house! Now that I'm not so young and stupid, I would never meddle with stuff I don't understand.
The best scary movie I've seen lately is Oculus. It's not super scary but it really plays with your head. Do recommend!
Has anyone seen Annabelle? That's one I've wanted to see since it was released!

  • I've seen oculus. That was had a twisted ending. It had me scared for a night lol but I've never seen Annabelle, I'll put that on my list of movies to watch.
  • I don't mind scary movies unless dh isn't home. If I watch one at home in bed that puts me on the third floor with no one on the first two. Something about that just reallllly creeps me out and I'll get too scared to get out of bed. Even if I have to pee.

  • Scariest movie with creepy kids? Wicked Little Things. Scariest movie overall would definately have to be The Descent. And the sequel is actually just as good.
  • I thought Ouija sucked. There were a couple parts that were good but for the most part it was lame, like 90% of the "scary" movies out these days.

I love movies that are actually scary but they're few & far between anymore.

  • Has anyone seen Annabelle? That's one I've wanted to see since it was released!

I've seen it, I don't think it was nearly as good as The Conjuring (the movie where the doll was first introduced).I've had the awesome opportunity to meet and attend a lecture hosted by Lorraine Warren, the paranormal investigator that still has the Annabelle doll today. She is awesome!
  • I used to love scary movies. As kids, I think me and my brother and neighbors rented every single scary movie in our local movie store. Obsessed. That's until I lived with my ex-boyfriend and had many first hand experiences with paranormal. Now I'm so freaked out I'll be haunted again I can't even watch that shit.
  • No no no to all of it - ouija & scary/horror movies. DH has given up forcing me to watch them because afterwards I'm up all night watching Disney movies with the lights on. I'm a wimp.
  • @pickles26...dying!! I'm mean literally almost spat my OJ everywhere!!

Good to know, I really liked the Conjuring so I had high hopes for Annabelle but I'll make sure to not get too worked up

Also, you are incredibly ballsy and I'm incredibly jealous! Hahaha
