Current Girl List

hey yall, this is my current girl list, in a semi-order of my preference. Just wondering what yalls faves are, which need to go, and would love suggestions that would fit In well with these (I like 2 syllable names best, but some 3 would work).

Siblings are Eli, Asher, and Liv.

1. Alice
(This is my fave but I love "Alice in wonderland" and everyone reasonably close to me knows it, so even though that's not necessarily why I like this name, I fear that's what people will think and will think it's silly)

2. Emmaline
(LOVE this one and have for over 10 years, but It's a close family friend name so DH won't consider it, even though I know the friend would be more than happy for us to use it)

3. Jovie
(We'd probably do a name like Joan Violet and nn Jovie. Any Jo- first name and V- middle name suggestions to make this work are welcome)

4. Chloe
(DH's fave but I'm not sure in such a kardashian obsessed world)

5. Heidi
(I don't love it but it's DH's grandma's name so it would work)

6. Alison
(My middle name, but I prefer Alice)

Others lower on the list are:
-Gemma (too UK?), Piper, and Clara (love it on paper but I think I sound silly saying it aloud.)

To make Jovie work as a nn here are some suggestions.

Jordan/Jordanna
Joscelyn/Josie
Jolene

Mn:
Vivienne
Vanessa
Veronica
Vera
Venus
Valerie/Valeria

Personally I think they're all beautiful and I'm sure there are numerous combinations. Hope these help!

On another note I also love Emmaline, Heidi and Clara.

Gemma is my favorite, it's my DD's name. I like Jovie too especially as a NN, but don't care for Joan. I know a little Jovie and it fits her well. Josephine is a better choice, IMO. I also like Piper and Chloe.

Eek, the answers are so wide spread! I don't know how I'm going to pick one! But I'm more happy with this running list now than I was a few days ago. Crazy that one will be MY daughter's name!

The Jovie you know-- is her full first name Jovie, or is it a nn for something?

Maybe so, but I have an almost 50 piece Alice in wonderland collection, so that's not really helping my case

It is her full name. I think they first heard it from the movie Elf and they fell in love with it!

It is her full name. I think they first heard it from the movie Elf and they fell in love with it!

My parents almost named me Alice, but went with Allison instead. I love my name and I'm glad they changed it (I just don't prefer Alice). In school I got called "Alice in Wonderland" all the time which annoyed me even more lol. So if you go with Alison, you may get lucky and she'll be called Alice anyway

I really like Joan Violet. Not a big fan of Jovie, but I like this combo a lot.

I also like Alice, but it sounds too similar to both Asher and Eli to me.

My college roommate was obsessed with Audrey Hepburn. Posters everywhere, knew all the movies, even kind of dressed like her. She had a daughter in 2013 and named her (drumroll please) Audrey. No one made a big deal about it, we all just kind of shrugged our shoulders and said "yeah, that's not surprising."

I know someone similar. She openly admits her daughter is named after Audrey Hepburn. No one thinks it's weird or silly though.. We all think it's pretty cute!

To OP-
I like Alice and wouldn't worry about the movie association. Who cares if people think she's named after the movie? Unless it *really* bothers you, stick with the name you love

Also like Emmaline but too close to Eli for me. And Clara is one of my fave names.

I like Chloe (with ch spelling), emmaline and Alice. If you wanted to call her jovie I think pretty much any of the suggestions above work. I didn't see if anyone mentioned it earlier but I love the name Joanna and would work with Vivian, violet etc

Love Alice but with Eli, Asher and Liv I think there is just too much tongue tying in there. But maybe you're going for that. Emmaline is pretty but if DH says no then take it off the table. I can't get on board with Jovie... even as a nickname. I like Chloe, Heidi and Alison (prefer Allison though). Piper and Clara are really cute. I don't think Gemma goes with your other kids names.

Thinking of your other kids names and assuming all your choice sound good with your last name, I would go with Chloe, Piper, or Clara.

I love Emmaline. And Clara is my daughters name and I love it so much I'm having a hard time picking a name for this next baby girl! I know what you mean about sounding silly when you say it though. When we decided to name her that it sounded weird calling her Clara. Or saying this is for Clara or this is Clara's. It didn't take long for it to feel right though. She will be three in May and I can't imagine her with any other name. I'm in the same boat now with Juliet. We are thinking that for our second daughter but it sounds weird actually calling her that right now!

ETA: I like Emmaline so much that I'm suggesting it to DH tonight!
