Re: Friday Check-In *Jan 16, 2015* (for all ladies due on a Friday in July)!

  • Week/fruit: 16 weeks/avocado

    Team: Staying team Green

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment: Our 16 week appointment is next Wednesday

How are you feeling (rants/raves)? Physically I am doing So much better. Just over the last week my nausea has settled down and only makes very rare appointments. I had a few weeks where I felt like my eating got back to pre-pregnancy normal, but then this past week I've been starving so much more often. My OB gave me a lecture on being careful with how much weight I'm gaining in the pregnancy so it's resulted in feeling guilty when I snack more often or eat something heavier. Blah...I just want to enjoy food while I'm pregnant!

QOTW: What has been the one or two things that has surprised you most about your current pregnancy?
(Note: If you have any questions that your curious about with your fellow "due on a Friday in Jul" bumpies please feel free to PM me those questions and I'll happily use them over the next many weeks in our QOTW)
I have spent too much time comparing myself to others and I feel like my stomach is growing quicker/bigger then other's at sixteen weeks. My OB expressing concerns about my weight gain from my first trimester doesn't help with my anxiety over this. My DH was a twelve pound baby and there isn't a male in his family that was less then eleven pounds so I'm beginning to think it's inevitable that this baby will be huge. My OB is concerned how this will affect a natural delivery (my dream) and commented on how much harder it could be for me to loose weight after I've had the baby. I don't want to focus on weight loss this early, but I have to admit I'm not looking forward to weighing in at next weeks appointment with fear my OB will once again be disappointed in how much I gained in the last four weeks. Blah!

  • Week 14- lemon!
Team - finding out on February 20!
Recent appointment - I had an appointment on Tuesday. My doctor used the hand held doppler but couldn't find the heartbeat after a few minutes. I was freaking out and had to wait for her to get the portable ultrasound machine and for it to start up - longest 10 minutes of my life! The baby was totally fine, with a heartbeat of 155. He or she was just moving around so much that it made the heartbeat hard to find with the doppler! Thanks for the heart attack little jumping bean!
    Feeling- great actually!
QOTW- I was surprised that I didn't get sick the first trimester, but also surprised at how tired I was. I have never felt that level of exhaustion before!

Hope everyone is doing well and cheers to being out of the 1st trimester!
  • @cwhiteh1 Ugh...that was definitely my biggest fear the first time the OB brought out the doppler, sorry you had to go through it. I'm so glad a portable machine was readily available and you were able to check in and see your active little one! Yey for feeling great and everything progressing so nicely! Congrats on moving into the second trimester!

    Team: Pink!

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment:I had one 2 weeks ago and the next one is Feb 3

How are you feeling (rants/raves)? Feeling- pretty good - ready to get out of the exhausted phase

QOTW- I think everything surprises me since this is my first viable pregnancy.  I didn't expect constant cramping which really worried me at first but now I'm used to it.  I also expected to throw up a lot but I didn't - I was definitely nauseous but I never threw up.

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @snlinega Hah, Hah! I'm not sure we will every be over exhaustion! I've had weekends where I "slept in" and got in a beautiful 2 hour nap and by early evening I'm still exhausted. My bestie told me to expect the exhaustion to slowly start going away when our LO is sleeping nine hours a night...yikes ;) I whole heartedly agree. having also experience a loss the cramping in the first trimester was very alarming. Especially since they reminded me so much of menstraul cramping.

    Team: hopefully finding out soon!

Appts: Our next appt is Tues 1/20 & I'm hoping they will be able to tell us what sex these little guys are----fingers crossed!!!

Feeling: I'm feeling much better and was so proud of myself when I was able to brush my teeth in the morning w/out debilitating nausea :D I am still super sleepy tho & am hoping that eases a bit as well

QOTW: I think I was surprised by a lot--
I was surprised we actually got pregnant b/c we had been trying for so long & I didn't think IVF would work the 1st time
I was surprised that it was twins (even tho we transferred 2 I couldn't believe how lucky we got)
I was surprised at how bloated I got & the ehhem, bathroom issues
I was surprised that once I found out that we were pregnant my world didn't magically become sunshine & lollipops and I actually had a few moments of panic.
I was surprised that once I shared our pregnancy news with everyone & ppl started congratulating us and making remarks like " wow, twins, you have to buy two of everything- or "you will never sleep again" or "how will you guys afford this, are you going to be able to keep working" or "twins? Did you do IVF? Was it him or you that was the problem" That I would feel like cursing them out while punching them in the throat & thinking "shut up, this isn't happening to you" and immediately feel like a bad mom already & that the babies would somehow get the wrong impression that I didn't already love them & want them more than anything.
I'm sure I'll keep being surprised but I say--bring it on.

Ps-thanks for listening to my kindofrantconfessional

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment:

This morning!  I did the glucose test.  It was gross but not that bad.  I should have the results on Monday.  Fingers crossed.

I see the MFM next Thursday and the midwife in 4 weeks, Feb 13th.

How are you feeling (rants/raves)?  I think I'm feeling better although I still get sick every once in a while.  Energy is increasing but sleep seems the best way to prevent the nausea.

    QOTW:

I was surprised how quickly we got pregnant this time.  DD took a lil' while.

I'll be surprised if I don't fail the glucose test.

Team: Hoping to find out in February

Appts: I have one next Thursday.

Feeling: I'm still nauseous and taking zofran daily. I have tried to stop taking it, but I always end up throwing up and being so miserable that after a few hours I end up taking it.

QOTW: I think the thing that surprised me the most is how much harder this pregnancy has been than the other three. I thought I knew how I would feel, but the nausea and throwing up has been so much worse this time. I have always felt better by this point, but this time there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Team: Blue we found out Monday that it's a boy!

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment: I have an appointment on Monday. At my last appointment the Dr tried the dropper and couldn't find the heartbeat it scared the crap out of me. So I'm hoping they will find baby's heart beat with ease this time.

How are you feeling (rants/raves)? I am still having morning sickness! I am also having headache everyday. I wear glasses and I need an eye exam but eye Dr won't see you while your pregnant. :( on a plus side I am finally starting to feel more like myself instead of a crazy woman. :)

QOTW: What has been the one or two things that has surprised you most about your current pregnancy? I only have 1 tube so my DH and I were surprised it only took us 2 months to get pregnant. I am surprised that baby is a boy. I really thought it was a girl but I am so excited to welcome a boy. :)
  • @bnk2012 My FX are also crossed that they will be able to share with you the gender's of your babies. If not then hopefully the next four weeks go by quickly and you will learn the gender's at your 20 week! Woo Hoo for getting through a task without the gagging and nausea. Hopefully you only continue to improve! Don't every apologize for expressing all of your feelings, its why we have this forum of support and specifically why I asked the question. You are doing an amazing job of keeping your two little bundles healthy and striving, just keep doing what your doing! We live in a society were too often people ask questions or make comments without taking the time to think about how their thoughts or questions can be received, my best advice is to simply tell anyone you'd rather not discuss any topic that your not interested in covering with them! You have been blessed and you are so right to simply embrace it!

@paradebegone I'll look forward to your update on the results of your glucose testing! So glad you were able to get through it and it's one less thing you'll have to worry about moving forward! Hope you continue to improve and symptoms appear less and less! I hope you get a wonderful surprise and you pass your glucose test, FX!

@akbridge25 I was doing zofran daily until Wednesday (15 weeks, 5 days) and then all of a sudden on Thursday I woke up just feeling better then I had been. I chose not to take the zofran and to my surprise and delight before I new it it was 7PM and I realized I hadn't needed to take the zofran...today I haven't needed it either. Hope you will also reach this point very soon! Ugh...sorry this has been a rough pregnancy, hope it starts improving very soon!! You are rock star to be on pregnancy number four....i'm not sure I could do all this more then a couple times ;)

Well hey there! Wasn't sure if this thread would be happening today due to the chaos...

    Week/fruit: 16- avocado!

Team: Hopefully get to find out February within the next month or so:)

Recent appt: just had one Wednesday and got to hear little nugget's ❤️ for the first time. So exciting!
Not so exciting- midwife said my pap came out very slightly abnormal so I have a colposcopy scheduled for the 30th. FX that it'll be nothing.

I'm pleasantly surprised how easy this has all been. Besides the a1c being elevated and now the pap (both of which I was not expecting), I've been really good. No real cravings, have not thrown up, nothing. I'm glad I can keep eating healthy, and hopefully LO will also enjoy a variety of foods and not be picky since s/he will be used to all the flavors.

    @‌ denamaree

So sorry about the weight gain lectures from your ob. I know that sometimes I also crave certain things( such as cake) but try to eat something healthier such as berries to see if it'll relieve that sweet craving. I gained about 5 lbs at 9 weeks because I was eating extra sugar, but since the elevated blood sugar results I've probably had 1 small piece of cake on XMas- that's it. I'm now 1 lb under pre-pregnancy weight. Midwife didn't say anything but "good job" on healthier eating. As long as you exercise, try to eat healthy, etc., there is nothing else you can do- your body just naturally gains to adapt to the big baby who needs nourishment. :)

  • @jennykayt89 So many congrats on a great NT scan!! Woo Hoo!!

@sutavim2 My thought in continuing our Friday check-in is it's way to important to have this place to come too for support, guidance and venting!
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I think I'm doing better with eating healthy, I've continued doing well with getting in the exercise, and I am doing my best to just embrace our Lo's need/want to grow.
So glad you had a great HB. I've had various abnormal paps over the years and after further review everything has always checked out fine, hope yours is the same!

Team: finding out ASAP! I am a second time mom and would really appreciate a girl so I can then remove my insides! Lol

Just had a recent appt and the doc said its looking like a boy which made me wanna cry, of course I want a healthy baby but I really want a healthy baby girl!

Rant: this baby has been awesome. No morning sickness, I do have cravings for hot dogs and chilli cheese fries! Like I said I have gone a lil over board trying to find out the sex. I have done EVERY myth of which I am at 50 percent. I did all the chinese gender predictors and again that was 50 percent. Tried to use the nub theory but the baby was rolling around on the ultrasound so the doc took a potty shot which I have no idea how to read! There is clearly a nub but I was hoping for the girl one lol. I found a research paper that makes me believe it's a boy again with 98 percent accuracy. A dr. Ramzi study paper I found and sooo I have spent the last week trying to accept bringing another boy into the world.
  • Due July 31st

Recent appt: last Friday heard heartbeat: a strong 170s!
    Next appt: Feb. 6
How have you been feeling? I've been pretty lucky; no morning sickness but this week I've been getting headaches
  • @shay092185‌ fx it's a girl! Your story reminds me of what my mother in law told me- she had my DH and his brother 3 years apart.. And then decided she wanted a girl 7 years later. Well... It was another boy, and she admitted she cried. As a FTM, I'm hoping/thinking its a boy. Hoping the Chinese calendar is right. Haha. In the end though, all that matters is that we have happy, healthy babies, and we will love them no matter what! :)

    Team: finding out Feb 11!!

Appt: had one Wednesday and heartbeat sounded great! I get the anatomy scan next time and that one is my favorite, not just because we find out the sex but it's fun to see the organs and baby moving.

    Rants/Raves: no complaints!

QOTW: the crazy moodiness! I was not like this with DS and I've always been a mellow person. It's hard to manage and catches me off guard.

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment: our last appointment was 1/9, next appointment will be 2/9. We heard the heart beat, 150bpm.
How are you feeling (rants/raves)? I feel great!

QOTW: What has been the one or two things that has surprised you most about your current pregnancy? The one thing that has surprised me is how good I have been feeling up to this point. No call offs for work, no unscheduled dr appointments needed, etc. I fee truly blessed of how well this is going as a FTM!
  • @sutavim2‌ Yea I Told My DH that 3 is the max thats coming outta me but I really wanted to be done at 2. Pregnancy is difficult and hard on the body, I am enjoying this one a lot more than my first. I have researched how to ensure the sex (which I know sounds crazy and I wish I did it before I conceived this one) but I love science and im sure I have an 80 percent chance of getting a girl so I will try it 1 more time!
  • Week/fruit: 15th week, so I guess that makes me a navel orange. My due date is 7/10/15 Team: green (one of nature's last great surprises!) Appointments: I think I have one next week or the week after. I have a card with the time written down in my wallet, but I can't remember off the top of my head (is it too early to blame "baby brain" for my forgetfulness?) Feeling: Fine, mostly... actually, since I can no longer smell everything everyone within a 5 square mile radius is cooking, I'll upgrade the fine to pretty good! QOTW: So far I don't feel like there have been any real surprises-- except maybe the actually finding out I was pregnant part.
  • @DenaMaree thank you so much for continuing to post this check in. I'm glad I don't have to go somewhere else to check in with the other Friday ladies! You've been a wonderful support these past few weeks! I really appreciate you running the check in and taking the time out to personally reply to each of us. It means a lot!

Week/fruit: 15 Orange *(or according to the Ovia app, Avocado, and babycenter says apple)

Team: Green (for another few weeks!)

Have you had a recent appointment (how did it go)/When is your next appointment: I go on Tuesday! Hoping I can hear the HB since I haven't felt the baby move yet

How are you feeling (rants/raves)? Aside from being tired, I've been feeling pretty good. (*knock on wood*) Random boob pain now and again, acne and sore back. Otherwise, My appetite has been pretty good lately and I'm actually able to make my calorie goal most days, although I'm still down 10 pounds from my starting weight (which my OB is ok  with since  I started off at 277)

QOTW: What has been the one or two things that has surprised you most about your current pregnancy?
I am kind of surprised I'm not feeling the baby yet, but that's pretty normal from what I gather,  even tho I wish I was one of the lucky ones who could feel it sooner. Also, I'm kind of surprised that I don't feel pregnant most days. I only have the lack of period and the symptoms I listed above as reminders that I am. I can feel the harder spot in my lower abdomen, so I know the baby is in there, but since I was fat to start with, I'm not showing at all. I guess I was expecting to be a little more "in touch" with the whole thing by now....

  • @shay092185  FX you get a beautiful surprise and learn your OB was wrong about the gender. Most won’t even make a reveal so early because it’s so easy for things to be in the way and appear to be boy parts when they aren’t. It’s good however you are staying positive about welcome a second little Man, all babies are blessings. BTW..my girlfriend had three girls and went the route of reading the scientific suggestions for her to get a baby boy and it worked out wonderfully for her! She welcomed baby four, a boy, last Aug!

@crystalgb89  So glad all is going so well for you! Hearing those HB are so magical! Hope you continue to feel so well as you prepare to enter the second trimester!

@mnj05  Woo Hoo for a great appointment last week! Hope times goes quick and your 20 week is here before you know it!

@qtj05  So glad your feeling so well! January has gone so crazy fast, Feb will be here before you know it.

@mrsbeachcat  Totally blame baby brain for anything forgetful, I have been since six weeks ;) Yey for feeling better as time progresses..hello second trimester its so nice seeing you! Learning you’ll welcome a new bundle of joy is a great surprise…we are also staying team green and its another wonderful surprise to look forward too!

@iteachkids81  I am in great debate on whether I have felt baby flutter’s. I have pretty bad reflux so sometimes I think its just indigestion and other times I think I felt a flutter. I will look forward to your update after your appointment, I get to hear our Lo’s HB on Wednesday J!

@indiejavamama3  I agree, it was insensitive and I’ve decided to listen to what our baby needs and deal with her “consequences” of having a large baby and having to work harder to get down to pre-pregnancy weight post giving birth. It’s so fascinating to hear the comparison between your pregnancy with your son’s vs your current pregnancy with your daughter, thanks for sharing!
