Edema in ankles

My feet have been swelling rather badly the past few days. I had this issue when before I was pregnant and my regular doctor prescribed me fluid pills for when they flared up. My OB told me that I can not take them while I am pregnant- which I totally understand. I was wondering if anyone else was having this sort of problem and what you were doing to help it. I am drinking plenty of water and propping my feet up as much as possible but it still isn't helping much. Any help would be great, thanks!

There is a daily symptoms thread for stuff like this. And why don't you talk to your dr?

If you are really uncomfortable, or don't want to wait until Monday, they should have an after hours line you can call and a nurse will get back to you. I don't know of any reputable OB that doesn't have an after hours line.

@jbmoore‌ -- I feel ya. I've never had BP issues, pregnant or non-pregnant, but I've always had foot & ankle swelling issues, pregnant and non-pregnant. One thing that really makes a difference is making sure I get enough sleep each night. The horizontal time is much more effective than the time I spend propping up my feet for actually reducing the swelling. Walking helps too, for circulation. Also, in each pregnancy I eventually reach a point where the swelling just does not go away until after baby arrives. The OB or midwife would always ask me about it, but because I never had any other health concern (e.g. high BP), the swelling was just this uncomfortable, ugly thing I had to wait out. I'm sure your OB will stay on top of it.

(Ed. for clarity re: pre-existence of swelling issues.)
