Intro & Question Re Protein Intake (XP from PAIF)

Hello everyone!

I am 11w5d with twins conceived via IVF.  I have been lurking for a while but now that I'm heading to the end of my first trimester, it was time to intro.  I am looking forward to being a part of the MoMs club and getting to know you ladies.

I just read that I am supposed to consume 1 gallon of water per day (okay) and 130 g of protein per day (what????).

I am not a vegetarian, but I don't generally eat a lot of meat.  Any suggestions for hitting the protein mark?  I'd appreciate any ideas for snacks on the go, meal ideas, etc where I can maximize the protein but not have to spend every meal sitting at Fogo de Chao.  Thanks!

Re: Intro & Question Re Protein Intake (XP from PAIF)

  • I ate a ton of eggs 2-3 per day :) also protein shakes, ensure high protein was my choice.

    Congratulations on the twins!

  • Agreed on the eggs, I ate them almost every day
  • Those protein requirements are whack, IMO. If you are eating regular food (not protein powder or bars - which are expensive!) you would have to eat SO much to meet those requirements! One egg has 6g of protein, e.g. So a 3 egg omelet, add in some meat and cheese, you might get to 30 grams. So a huge breakfast by most standards and you are not even 1/4 of the way there. Oh, don't forget to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink a gallon water on top of that!!

My advice, definitely load up on the protein because it will stave off morning sickness and help you feel better. But I wouldn't worry about hitting any specific target unless your doctor has concerns with growth of the babies.
