Pregnant after 35

To puke or to eat?

I am so sick of not knowing if I'm hungry or if I need to go puke my guts out.  Ugh.  I'll be glad to get through first trimester and hopefully have more energy in another month or so.  I'm just dragging around.  Vent over!

Re: To puke or to eat?

  • I feel for you!  I felt terrible in my first trimester.  At 29 weeks I started feeling bad again.  My doctor says it is from having heartburn now.

  • I threw up a lot in my first and second tri.  Sometimes eating makes that want to puke feeling go away.  I say eat, if you puke, eat more but try something different.  If it gets bad, go to the DR.  They have meds for this.  Diclegis really helped me a ton.

  • I know. It's awful! Mine went a little bit farther than the 1st trimester too.  I didn't start feeling better until about 16-17 weeks. Hang in there! It is no fun. That's for sure.

  • I totally hear you! Even now at 23 weeks I'm still sick as a dog. I lost 21 lbs in the 1st tri. The only thing that made it possible for me to eat was zofran. I hope you feel better soon!

  • I had good luck with the combination of Zofran, Vit B and Unisom. I still puked, but not as much as my previous pregnancies. The downside was I found myself eating more to help with the nausea feeling. I have gained the most weight with this pregnancy. For me Week 16-18 was the turning point.
  • I'm 28 weeks and 5 days. It has been 18 days since I puked. It has been 0 days since I felt like puking.

I saw "eat" because sometimes that takes care of the nausea. Milkshakes are usually safe for me.

  • I've just decided that If I'm going to taste my food twice- I might as well enjoy it the first time. Lol
I found out that when I get hungry is when I feel the most nauseated. I try to eat at least a snack every 2 hours or so.
