I've been pretty moody the last couple of days. I'm quite sure it's hormonal. I hope it passes soon. I've also been feeling tightness in my upper back. I think it's from arching my back way too far to compensate for the weight up front. I managed to give myself a couple of migraines because of it. Correcting my posture seems to be helping.

5. Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?

I've started my birth classes. So far, it's been filling in some gaps for me, whereas for H, who has largely been in denial, it's been a lot more useful.

QOTW: What kind of parent are you or hope to be?

I hope to let LO be an individual. I want him to have a good understanding of how the world works pretty early on (not too sheltered), how to set and attain goals, and be self-reliant.

all day sickness is done but its replaced with a burning indigestion feeling thats almost all day every day. I have lots of aches and pains in round ligaments etc underneath utereus area...basically the more children you have the more you feel that! I have a stubborn nerve pinch down my right leg that I have had over 5 weeks now that acts up everytime I am on my feet a while

Waiting for Progenity testing results...very nervously.

a busy one???? I have been at this a pretty long time!! My children are home for school. They sleep with me until they are ready to leave on their own, etc

Wow, @cnneiding, you are on your eighth pregnancy? Would you be able to share, say, your top three tips (on anything - could be pregnancy, parenting, or general life change-related)? I know everyone and every pregnancy is different but surely you must have some wise words for the first timers among us! Fingers crossed for a great Progenity result.

@AASykes i hope your husband feels up to stepping up very soon! i don't know your whole story, but feel free to vent...

Thank you so much for remembering my thesis!! It feels great to be done, and yes, it was a slog (5 years--it will be 5.5 by the time my defense rolls around, but I worked full time throughout so I feel ok with that.). I took today off work and am waiting for husband to wake up and then we're taking a road trip for the weekend to unwind.

Thank you also for doing these Check-Ins so diligently! We'll miss you once you cross over to Parenting (if you decide to do).

4. How are you feeling? Great except for occasionally bad heartburn and some leg cramps that I need to have checked out (I have a history of clots while on the pill).

QOTW: What kind of parent are you or hope to be? I hope to be relaxed but authoritative. I think that's a fine balance and know I have a lot to learn.

20 weeks 2 days. Banana?

2 kids. 2 yr old DD. 6 yr old DS. One black lab.

I'm feeling much better these days. Still pretty tired due to really bad insomnia but other than that I seem to have more energy in general and the nausea has left me alone..thank goodness!

My anatomy scan is today at 4pm!! I cannot wait. I'm really anxious for some reason. I don't know if it's my age that's freaking me out or what but I just want everything to be healthy and good. I'm really excited to find out the gender though!

I guess I'm along the lines of what I thought I would be as a parent. I'm definitely not perfect but I think I'm a pretty good mom. DS tells me I'm the best mommy ever.. all the time.

I'm stretched pretty thin so I worry about having a third child and not going insane. I wish I could be more involved in school activities but working full time makes it a challenge. I wish I could be the mom that sits on the PTO and attends every school function but our schedule just doesn't allow it. I think my kids are pretty well rounded and know they are loved though.

Been a good week. Getting some mild heartburn, which worries me a bit, because I used to get it pretty bad.

a/s on Tuesday!! Pretty sure I've been feeling some movement this week... but keep doubting myself because it's so faint and kinda feels like it could just be gas.

Belly has officially popped, so I broke out the maternity pants. Have been trying to wear my normal tops as much possible (ie. the stretchy/baggy sweaters) because I'll be rotating through my limited supply of maternity tops pretty regularly.

Wow, that's deep. I guess, overall just a good role model.

I had my glucose test on Wednesday and haven't heard anything, so I assume it's normal. I also finally got my low back to pop. Hooray!

Good, but a little nervous. I haven't felt a whole lot going on down there. Just hope everything is progressing well.

I go in on Monday for a regular appointment. First time my fiance' is joining me. Am looking forward to making sure everything is good so far.

QOTW: What kind of parent are you or hope to be? One who remembers what it was like to be a kid. One who is stern, but flexible. One who lets the little things go. One who has the courage to let her little girl make mistakes, even when it hurts.

If no one else can help with the check ins, I will volunteer. I usually check in every day anyway.

4. How are you feeling?  Large, uncomfortable, worsening pelvic & hip pain... all stuff I am guessing is normal at this point. Also anxious to meet this little person but hoping he/she waits till 40 weeks.

5. Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?  Next appointment is Tuesday - cervical check then so we will get a sense of where things stand.

QOTW: What kind of parent are you or hope to be? Hmm - obviously a good parent. But more than that I want to be the type of parent whose kid(s) would come to them and be open but also still viewed as a parent and not as a best friend. And of course I would expect the relationship to evolve over time - esp once my child is an adult. I hope to be supportive but not overly coddling/hovering. I want my child to be independent and take risks / not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. And I hope to be the type of parent who doesn't take themselves too seriously.

1. September 12, 2015. 5wks 6 days. Tomorrow I will have a sweet pea.

4. After yesterday's very unwelcome drama I am feeling much better today. The bleeding is much slower today too. My boobs are starting to feel sore and I'm really tired but that's kind of comforting since I was worried about no symptoms before. I have no appetite right now so I'm just forcing myself to eat.

5. Next ultrasound is on Tuesday. It was AMAZING seeing the heartbeat yesterday since I truly believed I was having a miscarriage. I have to rave about the practice I got in with, both the receptionist and dr gave me hugs yesterday. They are all so nice.

QOTW: I'm the kind of parent who wants to encourage my child to explore and learn and grow. I try very hard not to say "no" all the time. I want to enforce bounderies but not hold her back from being adventurous. This isn't always easy but I'm doing the best I can.

1. Hi guys, I'm new! My due date: July 10, 2015 2. Age at delivery: I'll have just turned 35.... I was admittedly a little indignant that I'm considered of AMA since this baby was conceived with a 34 year old egg, but whatevs. 3. No children, but we have a cat named Kevin, who is the light of my life, even if he has become somewhat of an annoying shadow since I got pregnant... I guess he's trying to prep me for the fact that I'm never going to get to take a bath alone again. ;-) 4. Feeling fine. Could go for a hamburger... maybe a fruit roll up... and a kale salad... oh, and maybe a popsicle. I guess some mac & cheese would be nice, too. And some tacos. 5. Rant (which sort of goes with the QOTW): Did any of you see the news piece about the parents who are now being investigated for child endangerment for allowing their kids to walk home from school? I feel like the helipcopter parenting thing has gotten sort of out of control, and I hope to have the more laize-faire attitude that my parents had with me. I sort of resent the implication that because I want my kid to be able to climb trees, play in dirt, and go to the store to buy an ice cream cone, I'm not concerned about his/her safety. There's a great article from the Atlantic from last year (https://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2014/03/hey-parents-leave-those-kids-alone/358631/?utm_source=nextdraft&utm_medium=email#disqus_thread) that's worth a read that discuss these issues in more detail, but basically, while I recognize that I don't live on the island that I grew up on anymore (and live in a super dense urban area instead), I want my child to develop an independant and adventurous spirit.

mrsbeachcat - Congratulations and welcome! I saw that story, too, and all I could think was that I used to walk home nearly two miles from school everyday, starting in elementary school. Would my parents be thrown in jail today for that? Crazy!

Achy. I have really bad hips from years of dance and they have been bothering me like crazy the past couple of weeks.

I am super-excited to be seeing my chiropractor tomorrow to work on the aforementioned crap-tastic hips.

I hope to be like my own parents, who allowed us to make mistakes so we could learn. I also hope to be like my sister and her husband, who are super-laid back parents. Fingers crossed that good parent skills are in our genes!

A little tired. Lots of errands to run today. But just picked up the little one from his Mom so I'm all good.

Had to make 3 hour round trip to pick up the little one but his mom didn't act ugly this time so it's all good. Plus I love having hime home.

I hope to be the type of parent the my kids know will listen to them so they can tell me anything.

1. Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby? I am currently at 10 weeks, 5 days.

2. Age at delivery? (optional) Still 38, but will be 39 before baby is one month old.

3. Any other children? Furbabies? This is my first pregnancy. I have a black and white cat named Ezio who is a big cuddlebug.

4. How are you feeling? Tired. I take daily naps, but tired is the word for now. I was nauseous all day every day (I was losing weight because I couldn't keep anything down), so the nurse at the OB prescribed an anti-nausea medication. I'm feeling much less green now.

5. Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves? Rant: The OB's office messed up my first appointment. They were supposed to schedule an ultrasound and bloodwork for that one but failed to do so. The nurse crow-barred me into the schedule for both. Being totally new at this, I had no idea that either was supposed to happen at the first appt., so I didn't prepare. At least I had my husband with me, and he got to see and hear the first ultrasound. Unfortunately, I had eaten breakfast and lunch by the time they did blood work, so it will probably need to be re-done.

Raves: ANTI-NAUSEA MEDICATION!, cheesy scrambled eggs, spinach salads, and anything that doesn't "smell".

QOTW: What kind of parent are you or hope to be? A nurturing, understanding, imaginative parent sounds good for now.

5. MH and I have a newborn baby class today. Next OB appt is on Wed. My SIL just told me last night that MIL thinks she is watching our baby only 1-2 days. I freaked since she said she would do 4 days up until she is one. WTH?? Hoping my mom can do 2days. Told MH he better straightened this up!!

QOTW: Love reading all the responses. MH and I both grew up loved but it was really never shown in simple ways like hugging and kissing and saying the words I love you so I will definitely show/tell my daughter that. Guess I want to be firm but also a relaxed parent. Hoping the 21 yrs of watching 2 kids from 4 weeks old will help guide me in some ways. I just pray I have patience!!! Haha. Since she will be my one and only I hope I don't smother her

My first appt is finally on Tuesday. I've had to cancel twice bc I was sick.

4. I'm feeling the usual pain from SPD that gets worse with each passing day. Aside from that, I feel good so I'm trying to focus on the positive and be grateful. It's just hard to ignore pain.

5. Rant: I'm weaning off of coffee because LO has an arrythmia and the perinatologist suggested it. Boo.
Rave: I got a gift certificate to a spa that caters to pregnant women and has a special table with space for your boobs and belly to go so you can lay on your front. VERY EXCITED for this.

QOTW: well, dd is still young so I feel like I have a lot of parenting ahead of me. So many hopes! I hope my kids always feel secure and loved, yet confident to problem-solve and find their own way, and with strong coping skills to deal with all life's challenges as unscathed as possible.

Hello - this is my first post!

1. My first appointment isn't until Saturday but 7th sep is EDD. Just hit 7 weeks so early stages - blueberry.
2. 37 unless I go early which I did with dd
3. Dd is 2 today and we have 2 cats
4. Tired and awake! Dd is not a great sleeper. Occasional nausea but otherwise ok. Hating the hormonal zits!

3 - Madeline and Victoria, 5 yo twins, and a bunch of critters.

4 - Tired, but work has been crazy so that's a part. I'm a space cadet, I was trying to figure out Madeline's car seat belt and where it was stuck today. The girls are both rear facing in Britax Click Tight seats, the seat belt is holding her car seat in place. She buckled her own harness and put her chest clip up, I only caught on when she said her shoulders were getting hugs, but her legs needed hugs also. DF took the car keys from me then.

5 - I want to be better than my mother. I want assertive, independent daughters who will have good relationships with me as adults. But mostly, I just don't want the mind fuckery I lived with to be their normal.
