My daughter has been a good sleeper for the most part. She's still in a crib and goes down pretty easily most nights. In the past she has slept through the night, woken up around 5 or 6 AM to drink a sippy cup of warm milk, and then gone back to bed until 630 or 730.
Since the holidays we have had a number of sicknesses go through the house, stomach bug, nasty cold, and multiple night wakings became a regular occurrence, that we dealt with because she was under the weather. Now she is healthy, but no longer sleeps through the night. Sometimes she is up 3 or 4 times, and some nights she will fall right asleep when we pick her up and rock her, but wake screaming the second we put her back down.
We don't have a problem letting her cry for 10 minutes or so to see if she'll settle in to a nap, but she gets very worked up if we don't get her right away during these night wakings, and I worry that if we let her cry it out, she'll be screaming for hours. That being said, we need to do something because this is not getting better. I'm just not sure what to do. Any guidance would be welcome. Thanks!
Re: 23 Month Old Night Wakings
We did recently start putting her to bed with her stuffed Minnie Mouse, and that seems to help her go to bed. I hadn't thought of referring to going back to sleep with her 'friend' when she wakes up, but that's a really good idea. Thank you
We are trying to hold off as long as possible before converting her crib to toddler bed for that reason! Good luck.
Regarding bringing them into bed, we've occasionally done that too. This morning at 4:30 I couldn't take it anymore, and as soon as she got into bed with me, she slept blissfully until 7! It's kind of nice, but I know we don't want it to become a regular occurrence. Ugh. I know we're going to have to CIO, but I'm just dreading it.
