Baby Names

Hello all usually I'm just reading and following discussions.

So far I'm 21w4d.

We're trying to figure out a name, not finding out boy/girl. I needed to ask random strangers so we can keep our name choices a secret...

Choices this week for a name for both is

Klemente Lee (Clemente but I want a K name :)) for boy. Need to know how other people would pronounce this (Cle-men-tay? or Clement no "ay" sound?)

Olivia Ruth (I like the new/oldness/rareness of K/Clemente, but is Olivia too popular?)

Thanks in advance for your responses/opinions!

Re: Baby Names

  • I think Klemente looks really awkward, almost feminine thanks to the K. My first instinct would be to say clemen-tay. If you want it to sound like Clement I would drop the extra E. If you're looking for a K name for a boy there are lots of legit options, like Kyle, Keith, and Kevin.

I think Olivia Ruth is really pretty. Olivia IS pretty popular so if you're trying to avoid that, maybe Ruth Olivia?

The Baby Names board always has tons of great suggestions!

  • I agree to lose that K. The baby name board would be helpful for you I think.

  • I don't understand why people have to answer in such rude ways. But, I just wanted to tell you, your names are great if that's what YOU like. It's all that matters. You are the mommy.
  • If you're looking for an honest opinion, I'd think "Klemente" was a girl

Try the BN boards. They're all about the different names. Agree with PP, If you're hung up on a K name there's lots of great ones that won't get your kid made fun of

This is a silly statement since she asked for input. I honestly don't get why people feel the need to blow smoke up the butt of others when asked for opinions. I can't stand it when I ask for an honest opinion and instead someone gives me some dumb platitude.

It's not a silly statement. You can give an opinion without being flat out rude.

If you believe any of our answers are rude, how do you manage in your everyday life.

Hahaha really!?? Oh goodness. So much crap on here. How do I manage my everyday life! I certainly don't sit on the bump and make rude comments! That's how. :)

Nope, instead you walk around not answering questions with any sort of honesty for whatever reason. Useful.
    Great quality to have.

Time for big girl panties I think!

Look up the definition of "rude" you will be slightly embarrassed you missed the mark on this post.

  • I think the boy name is odd, and reminds me of clementines, as in oranges... I also dislike the K, as misspelling a name on purpose makes little sense to me.
I like your girls name, however.

I'm also not a fan of the "k", and I thought it was a girl name. I read it is Clement. I like Olivia but it is pretty popular, maybe the women on the name board would be helpful they are really good with names.

Clement (spelled like this...and ONLY this) is a boys name. Clementine is a girl's name. Just because a name "looks" feminine doesn't make it so.

I like Clement if it's properly spelled. Your girl's name is cute.

ETA: there's also Clemente (pronounced cle-MEN-tay).

I'm confused. In what way were any of these posts rude? Because nobody added random smiley faces and called the OP "hun"? Blunt and honest, yes. But hardly rude.

  • Is there a reason he is pushing for a K?  I know many Germanic/Slavic/Nordic names use the K because of their alphabet (think Kristopher, Konrad, etc.)  However, if you don't have a similar background, it comes across as very trendy and misspelled.  And if you're going the Slavic route, there is no "e" in Klement.

    Olivia is lovely.

  • I'm not familiar with Klemente.  At first I thought  you were doing a play on the girl name Clementine, then I thought you had accidentally misspelled Clementine, then I thought maybe Clemente was a cultural/regional name.   I'm still not sure.

I LOVE your girls name!  super sweet.   As far as the boy name goes, contrary to above posts you aren't the only one that matters - he does too. My gut feeling is that if when you ask others for an opinion the answer is a resounding 'eh, don't do it' then I'd proceed with caution. :/
  • I would pronounce it with a harsh K sound. Klementay. Think of a throat clearing K sound. I'm not a fan.

Girl name is great. Love the mn.
  • Klemente reminds me of a clementine orange.

  • Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions!
  • I think if you like Klemente, go with it! I don't think it will be mispronounced at all... And love lee as a middle :) (my daughters middle) and her name is Kacey (with a K)... So I like the K!
    :)
  • I like the K!! :) also Olivia is SUPER popular but it's still cute so if you like it I think you should go for it
