I went to my 20wk ultrasound to check on babys growth and measurements. She has a spot on her heart, my dr said since my quad test came back normal I should have nothing to worry about. I'm still finding my self worrying..not really knowing what it means.
If your OB isn't concerned, let that bring you peace of mind. I know it's extremely hard not to worry but if there was need for concern, they would tell you what steps need to be taken. Thought and prayers coming your way for some peace of mind!!
If your doctor says not to worry then try not to worry. You'll drive yourself crazy worrying about something that could be nothing. I was born with a small hole in my heart and it closed up over my few months of life. I'm sure your baby will be fine, praying for you and LO tho. Keep your head up
We had the exact same thing. The us tech pointed it out to us during the AS and I felt like it was the only thing I could watch. I bright white spot right on the heart. The way that it was explained to me is that they are now debating weather or not the spot is worth mentioning any more to parents. Rather it may just be a regular variant of a healthy baby. Further research and reading seems to support this also. I was told that since all of our other screenings (quad) were normal that this alone is not concern. My husband had done some reading also and he explained it like this.... 99% of children with Down syndrome have this spot but something like 20% of the average population actually have the spot also. (Note* he may have just been using Down syndrome as an example for me to better understand what he meant. I am not sure the accuracy of this claim or the percentages) that all being said try not to worry... That's what I've been working on too.
Try not to worry. The exact same thing happened to us last pregnancy, and we had to go back at 26 weeks for a follow up ultrasound (where it was of course discovered as nothing). My dr assured me that whole time not to stress during the wait and she sometimes wishes it doesn't have to be brought up and add stress since it almost always comes back as nothing.

Usually when you don't know what something means, it's a good time to ask questions especially when you are in front of a person who is qualified to give you the correct information. Just saying.
Same thing was noted at my appt yesterday. Since my quad was normal, the doc said he had zero concern. But if it's concerning to me, there is another blood test they can do to specifically address the genetic markers for down syndrome and trisomy 18. He explained that the quad just looks at the maternal likelihood of developing these chromosomal abnormalities ... The other looks at the baby's genetic material in your blood to be more certain. He also said an amnio would clarify it too, but the blood test was less invasive, obviously.
I hope I explained that somewhat clear... So basically, if it's gonna keep you up at night, there are other tests you can get.
