Stain removal

Anybody any tips or tricks for getting a tomato soup stain out of a white shirt? DD got an adorable shirt from mil for Christmas and naturally covered it in tomato soup. I haven't bleached it yet. I was hoping someone has a magic tip or trick to remove it.

Re: Stain removal

  • I usually soak in baking soda and vinager. Then launder (no bleach). Do not put in dryer, instead dry it in the sun with the stained side up so it can absorb the UV rays. UV Rays will break down organic stains. If it's on both sides I would repeat for the other side. I know it's winter (I'm not sure where you are located) but still works to put it next to a sunny window.

This is how I dry my cloth diapers ( or even any white clothing that starts to look dingy) and they end up being bright white.

  • Thanks @Mom2anAngel2‌. Do you use any specific ratio of baking soda and vinegar?

  • I'm guessing you wouldn't have Biokleen Bac-Out around but I use that on stains and it usually does a really great job.

No, I just pour it in a bucket. Usually enough vinager to allow the item to be covered and baking soda to dissolve.

  • I've had really good luck with oxy clean stain sticks. If that fails then I use regular oxy clean or bleach.
