husband thought of new name...

Husband decided he didn't like our other names on the list and threw out a new idea and he seems dead set on it.

Tetsumi

I kind of like it, but it's a bit much for a little girl.

    Assuming you have Japanese heritage, why would you give your daughter a name that has only been used by Japanese males?  Won't that be awkward for her?

    Personally, I like the name, but not so much for a girl. I would prefer something like kohaku or Misaki but he is dead set on this one. Going to be a fun decision with him!... not lol

    There are so, so many gorgeous Japanese girl names.  Why on earth would you want Tetsumi?? Misaki is by far my favourite of the names you posted.

    It sounds like a boy name to me. If you are looking for a Japanese name, I vote keep looking. There are sooooo many beautiful ones out there!

    I agree with pp that it sounds harsh, I can't picture an adorable little girl with that name. I don't mind Misaki.

    I'm not really familiar with Japanese names but here's a few suggestions I thought were nice

    Nariko
    Maemi
    Maeko
    Aneko
    Kaida
    Nori
    Isa
    Suki
    Keiko

    Just a quick note and I am not sure if you really care (not sure that I would), but baby girls in Japan are no longer being given names ending in 'ko.' That trend has had a severe downward spiral. If you live outside of Japan like I do, that probably doesn't mean much, but if your baby ever went to Japan everyone would quickly realize by her name that she is not from Japan.

    "In the past, it was very common and traditional to use the kanji character "ko (a child)" at the end of female names. Empress Michiko, Crown princess Masako, princess Kiko, and Yoko Ono, all end with "ko (子)". If you have a few female Japanese friends, you will probably notice this pattern. In fact, more than 80% of my female relatives and girlfriends have "ko" at the end of their names (including me!).

    However, this might not be true for the next generation. There are only three names including "ko" in the recent 100 popular names for girls. They are Nanako (菜々子)and Riko (莉子, 理子).

    Instead of "ko" at the end, using "ka" or "na" is the recent trend. Haruka, Hina, Honoka, Momoka, Ayaka, Yuuna and Haruna for example."

    Also, I dislike when people give their children names that are predominantly used for the opposite sex no matter what language it is. People where you live may not know that Tetsumi is a boys name, but everyone that has any hint of Japanese culture within them will know and probably think its wrong/weird

    No periods due to 17 years of ballet and distance running after college.  Zero response to 2 months of Clomid, little response to Letrozole.  IUI left with 9 cysts = too many viable eggs due to age.  On to IVF.  Low dose of all meds still produced 37 mature eggs 12.6.11.  Froze due to overstimulation.  

    FET #1.1 1.22.12 BFN.   FET #1.2 2.22.12=GRACE! (and a vanishing twin).  

    Grace Katherine born 10.25.12 @ 36w6w 6#14oz 19.5".
    FET #1.3 3.2013 BFN FET#1.4 4.2013 BFN. Never tried a fresh transfer.  Let's try, despite 10 still frozen.  
    ER 6.26.13 27 mature eggs, slight overstim. ET   7.1.13 ectopic, FET 2.1  9.10.14   TRIPLETS!!  

    Boys born 3.18.14 @ 29w5d.  Andrew Jack 3#6oz 16", Grant Robert 3#9oz 16", Charles Phillip 3#7oz 17".
