This newbie just wants to say Hello :)

Hello my beautiful moms or moms to be! I've been apart of 'the bump' for some time now, but this is my first official post!

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant and dealing with my pregnancy away from family and friends as I moved from NJ to Hawaii due to my husband's new duty station. My mother passed away four years again and no this isn't for a pity party, but sometimes we don't always feel so comfortable in asking questions or sharing certain information with certain people -- so I just wanted to say 'Thank You' for your posts and the help it's giving me thus far.

How's your relationship with your mil? My aunts mom died and her mil tried to surrogate for those times she needed a mom. My aunt was so thankful to have her after her miscarriage.

Not saying we don't want you here!!! But if you want a more personal less creepy Internet hugs thing - it could be a great bonding thing?

We're stationed in Oahu - definitely not complaining about our location. I sure don't miss the East Coast weather, especially now!

I can't complain - we have a good relationship, but regardless she's back in NJ as well and with the time difference sometimes I feel like I may be a bother. I've always been overly independent -- that may be part of the problem, but she will flying out here a few weeks before the baby arrives to help out. So I'm definitely looking forward to that.

We're stationed in Oahu. We live off post, but my husband works in Schofield barracks.

@Benitess21‌ if she's a mom to boys or first grandkid or just excited to be a grandma I don't think you would be bothering her at all. Maybe a couple calls here and there would also kinda build up excitement and expectations for when she does come!

I feel fortunate that I lived with my mom when I had my son- so I wasn't rushing him to the ER every two seconds id just walk upstairs and ask " is this normal?".. " are you sure they should be pooping this much?" ...I'm glad she's coming out !

LimaD definitely was a lot going on at once.. but after the first trimester was over I definitely handled everything a little better. Just took time to adjust.

samiamagirl Thank you for the well wishes! Thankfully, yes they've been great. Everyone is extremely friendly and the community in which we live in all of our neighbors are pretty close knit. I'm also sorry for your loss.. I started having extremely vivid dreams of my Mom soon after I found out I was pregnant - they have really helped me.. who knows might be subconcious or maybe she's really with us -- I'll stick with #2 8->

( OMG, is everything so expensive!! We can literally spend close to if not a little over $200 on groceries for just the TWO of us (well 2 1/2 with LO

) but still .. and I miss the variety of food I was able to find in the East Coast. I sure don't miss the cold... I'll be sending you warm weather!!

Welcome! DH and I had our honeymoon on Oahu, beautiful island and can't wait to go back. It certainly sucks being away from family, mine is back on the east cost as well, and I'm in CO now. Hopefully you have found some friends and support on base/post.

Thank you! It definitely is paradise. We don't live on base so it was kind of hard meeting new people and I'm also currently not working, so I'm home all day with my pup.

LO was a complete surprise - we found out a day before flying out here and morning (24hr) sickness held me back from trying to get a job sooner - now no one wants a stuff turkey to work for them lol
