Lurking - Looking for advice... (IVF questions)

So, I see my new RE tomorrow afternoon and I figure the focus will be on potentially moving to IVF... Are there any questions I should be asking specifically that you all can share?

Also, for any of you that have done IVF, have you done PGD or not? What was the deciding factor there for you?

Oh, bloody hell. On the Infertility forum, there was a sticky thread that contained lots of suggested questions for a first IVF consult. BUT, the mod who posted it--best Mod on TB, IMHO--was one of the mods banned (for no reason), and the thread has been deleted. Grumble, grumble, grumble. I would suggest posting this question there, as you'll get lots of feedback, and some of the women there might have the questions from the thread stashed as notes.

I did PGD because of my age and a history of losses. We were really on the fence. You could try searching the IF forum for this question, as it gets asked frequently (by me, too...multiple times), and there are lots of good responses. It's a tough call, but I can tell you it's been very reassuring during this pregnancy.

We did not do testing because we did not get enough embryos to justify the cost. If we have to do another round I would do it if we were to get more. It is expensive, but I think the extra knowledge is worth it. And like others said, FET are better in many ways because your body has time to rest.

Hey girl...glad you are moving forward with a new RE. You've gotten great advice but I thought I would just put my 2 cents in as well.

We were going to do pgs because I got the diagnosis of diminished ovarian reserve and my RE suspects that it is what caused my early losses. I think I would prob. at this point have done it anyway because I think it is worth it to avoid another potential miscarriage. Also as @megdowntheshore mentioned, I knew that if all of them came back abnormal it would be devastating but it would be our answer and we could move forward. Mine was going to cost about 2500. We ended up not doing it because we only had 2 embryos make it to day 5 and we decided it wasn't worth it. I kind of wish now that I had done it because I am sweating it out wondering if this LO is ok.

My dr. was pretty informative and I really learned a lot from the IF board. I will say that while it is a hard road and very stressful it isn't as terrible and as awful as it sounds at first. You just have to take it a day at a time and an appt. at the time.

THe appt went well. We both really liked the doctor a lot (even if she was 45 mins late)... She recommended we move forward with IVF with PGD. We did some blood tests on Friday and today and I'll need to do CD3 BW on my next cycle and also schedule an HSG (doc wants to make sure that nothing has changed since my surgery and hysterscopy in 2013). If all goes well, we'd go on BC to start the IVF process in March... I was hoping for sooner because I hate to feel like I'm wasting more cycles, but we can't get in for an IVF class until Feb 18 and the IVF class is a pre-req for the process to begin at my RE. I will definitely be checking out the IF board. And will take any further recommendations you all may have :-)
