July 2015 Moms

do you wonder if...

The bloating is our body trying too stretch out your stomach in advance?

This triggers one of my pet peeves by the way: of course the bloating is the worst at night! This way when I have to go to a dinner event/wedding/date I can look 9months pregnant! Gah!!! Can't you schedule your wedding in the morning while I still look normal?

What off the wall things do you wonder?

  • The bloating is caused by progesterone. It also slows peristalsis, contributing to constipation.
  • Yep.. Randoms thread is a perfect spot for this!!
  • This post reminded me of high school stoner thoughts.

So you're telling me there is an actual purpose for me to have been so uncomfortable and show a bump way way too early ;)
  • I wonder why if all I do is eat how come I only poop a little bit every three or four days?

Because of the progesterone constipating you and the iron in your prenatal vitamins

  • Pfft it's not an answerable question. I know it's not my uterus and I know there are chemical reactions that create the bloat. But really maybe a reason behind it is to gently stretch out skin over time and help prevent stretch marks.

Which reminds me of the story: the government sent out a land assessor to a reservation who asked why they never got rid of the gophers and all the gopher holes destroying the land. The tribe replied that the gophers were sacred and that they brought the rain. A plan was made to repair the landscape and exterminate the gophers. The next year started a huge drought. The gophers aerated the land which helped the rain.

So yeah duh my body is bloated and there's no way it's my uterus but that doesn't mean I can't wonder about natures plan.

Also I think people who wonder if someone else is a stoner are usually past stoners themselves. ;p

  • I wonder what she is doing in there all the time. Wish I had a window into her world. Must be kind of cozy in there.

I'm wondering why some people don't perceive their own comments as less than friendly at times. If they realize it, then that's fine and dandy, but I've seen so many people defend them and say they're not unfriendly. While i may think that some questions on the board at times are silly or redundant, I guess i just don't respond to those rather than give an answer to someone that may be perceived as unkind. Being straight up or "snarky" (as some refer to it) doesn't mean being unkind unless i have a reason to be, I guess.

But it could also be the way it just comes across to me. Sorta like how an email could be misinterpreted....So I don't know...

    Edited for typo.

I just try to remind myself that not everyone is quite as familiar with technology and maybe don't intend what they've typed to come across so harshly. I try to give the benefit of the doubt most of the time even though it can be hard.
  • @lindsaypkelly‌ I think you're right, but I also think it's just how some people are. Just their characteristics and maybe they're like that outside the internet as well. Not sure! I'm not sensitive by ANY means either. Just how I interpret it!

  • I sincerely hope these comments aren't about my responses. I was answering in a factual and scientific way, not in a rude or snarky way at all. I thought these were genuine questions that warranted genuine answers. There are reasons our bodies are doing what they are doing, some of the symtoms we are having are side effects. Obviously we need progesterone to maintain our pregnancies and it comes with some unpleasant side effects. I may be way off the mark on this post and maybe I shouldn't assume it's about me, but I'm nice to everyone on here, when I'm rushing around all day between my job working as a nurse and going to school to further my nursing education I don't always have time for more than a straight forward to the point answer which also happens to be 100% accurate.
  • Some ppl have big heads and small brains. No correlation.

Nope, your answer was based on science. These ladies don't care about that. They want you to tell them that the unicorn's horn is causing the bloating.

  • @inlovealready715 No - wasn't toward any "genuine" answer. Was just a...I wonder why some people find it funny/fun to answer unkindly as it appears to several people, anyways.

I was a huge stoner. Thank you very much. And you can't prevent stretch marks. It's like preventing stupid.
She said stoner like it's a bad thing ;) I too was a stoner....good news is my state legalized it and I plan to return to socially smoking it when I'm done breastfeeding this babe. I wonder if that makes me a terrible mom...oh wait no I don't

Unless you made the remark I'm talking about I have no idea why you would make this one. Unless it's to stir up drama?

Here's the thing: I'm not a newb. I do give support to this community. I offer sympathy prayers help and answer questions if I can. I reply and like way more than I start threads. I also obsessively stalk my Google bar.

I know I'm not stupid and don't take this personally as irl I have real friends who would laugh hysterically over these comments.

One of them once texted me while 7 months pregnant that she wondered how her lo could handle the boredom in there. Maybe she would appreciate a disco party. Could I bring over some flashlights and speakers?

That made me laugh. Because it was funny. Get my drift?

Nope my response had nothing to do with your answer to my question. I know that your answer was accurate and it was appreciated. I'm sorry you felt that I thought you were being rude, that wasn't the case at all :)
  • @lindsaypkelly‌ thank you for clarifying, I'm not usually as short with my answers but def hoping it didn't offend anyone. :)
