I still can't feel the baby move and I'm starting to get nervous. My anatomy ultrasound is next week, so my mind is starting to go everywhere. I tried all kinds of things to get it to move, but nothing. First pregnancy...
Come join us in the Thursday Symptoms Thread - very active discussion going on and this is the perfect thing to post there. You might also want to use the search function (on the web? Use the spyglass in the top right of the screen. On mobile? Scroll down on the discussions page to the search bar at the bottom). We just had a lengthy discussion the other day about when people felt movement with their first baby (hint: it's not abnormal to not feel anything at 19w).
I'll play. You likely have an anterior placenta which is preventing you from feeling much movement. I had one with #2 and didn't feel a thing until 20+ weeks. It's common and completely normal.
I just started feeling (barely) a kick here and there like two days ago. It was confirmed at my A/S on Tuesday that I have an anterior placenta, which can delay feeling movement.
J'15 January Signature Challenge: Pinterest Fail: I want to do one, but I was late in starting and now I'm too lazy to get in on it. This is how most of my pinterest fails normally occur, at least I didnt buy supplies.

What kind of things have you done to try to get your baby to move?
My baby loves cold water, BUT I still can't feel him kick yet because I have an anterior placenta and he is not quite big enough to punch me that hard from the inside. He was so active during my A/S, I was amazed I couldn't feel him squirming around!
Also I went ahead and did the search for you because I am so nice:
You also mentioned you are a FTM. SO AM I!! I have read "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". It answers ALL my pregnancy related questions. I recommend picking up a copy!!
If I was truly concerned about the health of my fetus, my first instinct would be to call my doctor or medical professional. My last instinct would be to ask a message board. Just sayin'.
I have a feeling we could cut and paste information here for people to save them the trouble of picking up and opening a pregnancy book and we'd still get these questions.
Assuming these people see what I see when logging in there is pregnancy information right there before you go to the boards.
Knowledge is power.
You know, I just find it so funny that we spend years learning to read and look up information, but nobody uses that information we learned after they leave school. Its like what was the point in getting an education if you're not going to use the knowledge you've obtained?
I'm just over 19 weeks and haven't felt a damn thing....that I know of. Every now and then I have a weird feeling, but I don't know what I'm feeling for, so I just sort of ignore it. Every appointment and US I've had has been good, so I refuse to stress about it. I've heard when it happens, I'll know and have no doubts. So until then, I'll just enjoy each day and not stress about things not worth stressing about. Especially when it's common not to feel things until later.

To me, around 20 weeks with my last they felt like muscle twitches inside my belly. Even at 37 weeks DD got hiccups all the time. Those definitely felt like muscle twitches. I can barely feel them now and I'm 17 weeks. I think I feel them so early because I know what to feel for.

That is an intriguing question, isn't it.... How does one attempt to get something that weighs half a pound and insulated in fluid and body tissue to respond.....

My doctor told me on Tuesday that I probably wouldn't feel the baby move until 20-22 weeks and I don't have an anterior placenta (as far as I know) that would prevent me from feeling it as soon as possible. There's no sense in worrying when your A/S is a week away and you'll have your answers then, but if you really need an answer contact your doctor. That's what your insurance pays for.

Just for kicks - I decided to ask Google the following question:
"When can you feel baby move?"
This is the answer I got:
You should feel your baby's first movements, called "quickening," between weeks 16 and 25 of your pregnancy. If this is your first pregnancy, you may not feel your baby move until closer to 25 weeks. By the second pregnancy, some women start to feel movements as early as 13 weeks.
Amazing isn't it? Less words, instant answer. Technology is a beautiful thing...
Wow!! I think people come on here to look for reassurance where other new mums to be are having the same experiences, but all Iv seen so far is a bunch a bitchy comments and replies!

Wut? Are you being serious? I believe this is some of the most helpful and "nice" aka non-snarky we've been all week.

Would you like to point out who? And explain further? I think if you point out who exactly , we could get them banned. Just be a little more direct. You have my full support.

I'm pretty sure the OP did not ask a specific question, nor did she ask if we were having the "same experiences". No one has been rude or bitchy whatsoever. The responses have actually been informative and relatively mild. Being a new mom is no excuse not to pick up a book and do your own research!
If OP is legitimately concerned about her baby, she needs to get reassurance from her DOCTOR, not us.
Hello, the baby is still pretty small and for me my placenta and where it's placed and the way my baby sits, absorbs all the kicks and moves so I don't feel much.
Is there a name for the homies who come in, drop one comment about us being bitches and then never comes back? I mean we have the ss, aw, and wk-but idk the "hit it and quit its" are pretty obnoxious as well. The "one bitch wonders"? I feel as though they need to be categorized.
I'm dying with the "hit it and quit it's" and "one bitch wonders"... And I was being super serious about the ice cream. He likes hims some ice cream. I'll try the Oj too

Each pregnancy is different. It's early to worry about not feeling the baby.
