Hyper pigmentation anyone?

Oh so I am 20 weeks and I have these 2 huge spots on my my left breast (it is not cancer). This skin no matter how much I moisturize it it always continues to peel and get darker. I have always had bad acne and fairly big boobs so now they are huge. I also have spots along chest area and back. Is there anything I can do to start the fading process or do I have to wait until after the baby? I am very unhappy with my pregnancy body

Re: Hyper pigmentation anyone?

  • I would suggest you direct these questions towards your dr. And your body issues towards your therapist.

  • The pigmentation should fade after baby is born. Just remember to use spf on case you are exposing some cleavage there. UV rays make it worse. Just remember your body is doing something amazing right now. Embrace it.

  • Though the best advice I can give you will always be to consult with your doctor, I recommend you become more proactive with moisturizing. Maybe even consider switching to a new lotion that is for sensitive skin, preferably scent-free.
I myself, have a patch of skin on my face that was especially dry and now looks slightly darker too...nothing a little make-up can't dull out. I just try my best to keep the area hydrated.
I can get a bit temperamental when it comes to complaining about being pregnant so I will end at this, be thankful for this time and if you can't I suggest therapy as the PP said.
  • Besides lotion/sunblock and a chat with your doctor about any possibly safe creams. There's nothing you can do about this until after the baby comes. Hormones suck. Stay hydrated, too.

  • I got some pretty wicked freckles with Preg #1, but she was an August baby and I was in the sun a lot. Ditto the sunscreen and a hat to minimize the "damage."
  • I'm currently going through winter so the spots are on other areas not my face. I keep my skin well hydrated. I have even bought the lanolin cream to combat it. I was not so much complaining about my pregnancy body but looking to see if anyone had natural remedies to clear them up. I'm normally fit and haven't been pregnant in years so this whole growing thing still hasn't grown on me yet

  • At least one of my pregnancy apps has mentioned that this is common and there's not much to be done. Make sure to wear sunblock on any exposed skin and wait it out. The books say the same. Your doctor may have more information that is pertinent to you. Med school seems to have been handy like that.
