Anxious

I'm now 20weeks don't know if this has anything to do with it but for 3 days I have this anxious/nervous feeling that comes on about 1030pm. I'm nervous/anxious about the house being broken into and think I can hear noises all the time. My husband is great but I think it's
Goig to drive him a little nuts.

Anyone have any distraction/relaxation techniques? Anyone experienced this currently/before?

No history of anxiety or depression either

Re: Anxious

  • I'm not having this experience but it sounds like hormones combined with possibly fatigue and/or blood sugar (based on the time of night). Maybe try to do something soothing just before it would come on to prevent yourself from mentally going there?
J'15 January Signature Challenge: Pinterest Fail: I want to do one, but I was late in starting and now I'm too lazy to get in on it. This is how most of my pinterest fails normally occur, at least I didnt buy supplies.

  • Meditation? Exercise? A journal? Those things help me.
  • I suggest doing prenatal yoga before bed.
  • Ear plugs .. I don't know why.. But they relax me. I use them when I'm stressed... I know weird.. But maybe it will help. :bz
  • Complete accident but I locked my keys in my house and me and my sister tried to break in and we could not get in the house what so ever. I've been dealing with the same anxiety and they have been put to rest after that. It could be something the family could do together. If you find a weak spot fix it by window locks or furniture or whatever you can think of.
  • Thanks for the ideas I'll give them a try
  • I like to read just before bed, especially if I can't get my mind to slow down. On the worst days I read something interesting but dully written. My new go-to is The History of the Fall of the Roman Empire. Seriously, I make it two pages and conk out.

My husband and I did this when we bought our new house. Short of breaking windows we tried everything we could to break in, just to see if we needed any extra locks- etc and felt better after that too. lol

OP- a funny movie before bedtime, a book or some calming music... tea usually helps put me at ease too!! white noise maybe to help drown out the little irksome noises?
PCOS- finally pregnant after 3 years of IF treatment, including 4 failed IUI.

Lucky IUI #5 currently growing in my belly!

  • I agree with yoga poses... I also would suggest spraying some Lavendar on your pillow... It helps with relaxation.
  • Thanks all, it really is just the house. I'm on nightshift and these feelings didn't happen at all. Will take all the tips on board
  • I'm convinced my house is haunted! There were locks on the outside of the bedroom door and when hubby isn't home, I hear someone coming up the steps. It's super creepy and makes it hard to sleep...here's my fix!

-Lock every damn door and than double check
    -Sleepy time hot tea
-let the dog sleep in the bed(worst idea ever but I feel safe. He licks his damn chips for 20 ducking minutes before he falls asleep)
    -crotchet

That usually does the trick. Oh and I keep my "38 special" on my night stand.
  • The city I live in is (unfortunately) very high in crime. For years I was always afraid someone was going to break in through a window and rape me while I'm sleeping. So my brilliant DH suggested we buy a home defense weapon for protection. Before I got pregnant, we went to the range at least once a week (best stress relief ever) to practice shooting. Our state has pretty liberal gun laws and we are both licensed to carry concealed weapons, and we do. I can tell you that I never lose sleep anymore over the fear of someone breaking in to our house.

I support the second amendment and those who take steps to protect their own asses.

  • Shoot, no one would have to break into our home--between my husband and I, there is usually at least one unlocked door more than 50% of the time. Our neighborhood is pretty safe, luckily.

If my husband is out of town, though, everything gets locked and double-checked. I leave a bathroom light on all night, too, to make it look like someone's awake. Can you try to go to sleep before your normal anxious time so you can maybe skip it?
