I have noticed that my son is gagging at random times. Is this normal? I am strictly bf-ing. he is doing it in is sleep more. I'm a new mommy, so i am worried. NEED MOMMY HELP! Also, he is wheezing when he feeds.
I'm also strictly b-feeding and my 3 week old son does this as well. Our pedi said to have him sleep on an incline and let him sleep on his side (since he turns to his side on his own already) so he can clear any spit up on his own. Agreed with the other two posts to check with the doctor!
Definitely check with your doc. My little girl started doing this since birth. Her pedi put her on Axid and between that, getting a good burp up and propping up her bassinet, she as all but stopped she now over a month and doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.
My DD does this sometimes too so now she sleeps in a Rock n Play. She has reflux and most of the time she turns her head to one side and spits up, but one time she was just choking and turning purple so I got scared. I put her down in her crib or Pack n Play for naps when I can check on her often or watch her on the baby monitor. But overnight I put her in the Rock n Play. Her pedi said this was fine to do. Hopefully she will outgrow the reflux by the time she outgrows the RnP. Propping up her crib mattress doesn't seem to do much because she ends up sliding down the incline. She is 3 months now but still has days when she spits up more. She is formula fed but babies can have reflux whether they are BF or FF.
