2nd Trimester

13w+4 tummy is so big!

This is my first pot here. I was using a different app but every time I post I get no replies! So i thought I would try my luck here. Im a FTM and I had a little bit of a pot belly before I got pg. I know that my uterus inst that big yet but my stomach is huge. I was getting bloat that would go away in the morning but now my tummy is round all the time. It doesn't go away. Do you think that as my uterus is starting to move up its pushing out my pot belly making me look more pg than I am? I can suck it is just a tiny bit but its super uncomfortable!

Re: 13w+4 tummy is so big!

  • It's probably bloat, my bloat didn't go away throughout the day. Your baby is still to small to be showing yet.

  • Baby is still tucked way in there to be bulging out. I'd say definitely bloat.
  • Thanks ladies.
  • I will be 15 weeks tomorrow and my body has changed dramatically.  My stomach area is much bigger than it was pre pregrancy.  I have gained weight but almost all of it is in my bump area.  I know that it is early for me to be showing but people that know me can tell very easily that I am pregnant because I look different. My previously flatish stomach has been replaced by what I suppose could look a lot like 10 extra pounds around the middle.  So I feel like I am showing even though my baby is still too small to show.  My belly keeps getting bigger every week or so.  I do wonder if my uterus is tilted forward or something.  Even though its not the same experience that everyone has I'm OK with it.
  • At 13/14 weeks your baby is the size of a lemon so....
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • That is how i feel too. I know that my baby is still to small for it to actually be a baby bump and that my uterus is still low. But it feels like since everything is starting to shift and move around in there its causing my extra weight in the middle to stick out more than normal. I guess its hard to explain. I in no way feel bloated like I did a few weeks ago. Oh well...I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens!!
  • I understand that the baby is still small and that my uterus is still low, as I said in the original post. What I was asking was if things shifting around could cause weight that was their pre pregnancy to poke out more.
  • I have a bit of a pudgy belly. I started showing at 14 weeks, but not enough that people would notice lol as your uterus grows, it moves a lot of your organs around. So combine that with bloat, you will pudge out a bit more. Pregnancy does weird things. I didn't actually pop until 17 weeks, but my uterus DID push my stomach and other insides upwards and that made me look bigger.

    Bloating only enhanced it.

Also, depends on your height. Shorter torsos lack the space for things to move around, so things get pushed out more easily, also muscle tone plays a role too.

At 13 wks, your uterus is JUST starting to move out of the pelvic cavity, but you may notice some growth this early, but not everyone will notice.
  • Thank  you! I do have a shorter torso which is why i sometimes looked pregnant when i was full after a big meal before I actually got pregnant! I figured that is was just stuff shifting around. Thank you taking the time to reply!
  • I have a short torso even though I am tall so I definitely showed early. My doctors also confirmed that was the main reason why I would show sooner.
  • I am 16 weeks today and there is no bump :( I am a FTM so from what I understand I prob won't show for a few more weeks. If my bump comes sooner that will be okay with me!
