Mobility and Baths

Most of us have mobile babies now, and I was wondering how often you bathe them in comparison to how often you did before they started roaming the floors.

I only bathed Edolie once a week before she started crawling, and now that she's mobile I forget that I should probably bathe her more often now. :-/

Re: Mobility and Baths

  • I still bathe just 2x week. They love the bath and would probably enjoy it every day, but it's a lot of work for mama and it's hard on my back.

  • We aim for every other day
  • I do about every other day.

She loves bath time! I put her in the adult tub with waist high water and she plays for 20 minute or so.
  • We do the same amount of baths as before. They are super irregular so I honestly don't know how often it is. The ideal was every night as part of the bedtime routine. But with 2 kids that didn't last long.

  • She gets a water bath in the sink every night because she gets food crusted to her face and hair every day. Plus her hands get gross depending on what we had for dinner. We use soap twice a week. I'm actually not worried about her being dirty from crawling as much as it's to remove dried food.
  • Full bath every night as part of bedtime routine. We still  use the baby bathtub (in the regular one). It had a shelf thing in the middle that his tush rested on when he laid in the tub that comes out, so now he can just sit in it, but it's a pretty small space - he can reach out and touch the front and the sides. Keeps his toys close and prevents him from trying to crawl around or stand (like he did in a regular tub over the holidays).

Between getting a mess from eating, getting dirty knees and toes from crawling, and his helmet, he definitely needs a rinse daily.

  • Every day since her cord fell out. All of our kids love baths. It's part of the nightly routine.

  • Probably 5x a week. Definitely after daycare days and also when she gets super messy with dinner. Bath time is like her favorite thing these days!
  • Every night since 4-5 months as part of bedtime routine. If we are home late or he falls asleep in the car kind of night, we skip it.
  • DS gets horribly dry skin, so we only do baths for him once a week.  Now we're doing the same thing for DD.

FFWC: I'm pretty sure she went 6 weeks between baths early on...

Every night as part of the bedtime routine. Soap every other day. We put him in the big tub on a rubber bath mat in about 2 inches of water. He's not crawling yet so DH and I hang out in the bathroom drinking coffee while he plays. He loves the bath!

ETA- didn't really answer your question since LO isn't mobile! But we will probably continue this when he is.

I go 3 weeks or so without washing her hair unless she grabs her hair with food hands.

  • @EdoliesMom I wish we could go longer than a day without having to at least rinse her hair. She grabs her hair at every meal. Silly baby.
  • DD loves her baths. She gets one almost every night. I have to watch her closely but she has done really well in the big tub so far.

  • We do almost every afternoon on the decline to bed. The challenge lately is preventing LO from standing up in the tub. She tries about every 20 seconds.
  • Bath every night, have well since seems like forever :)
  • Twice a week but she has so much hair I may go up to 3 days. I still bathe her in the sink but she's been getting water everywhere so I'll be moving her to the bathtub this weekend.
  • @celticlullaby‌ Because Edolie rolled around a little but not in a wide range of an area. Now that she's been crawling for about a month, she's everywhere and into everything! I just figured more places = dirtier baby. :-??

  • We are at two baths a week but we may be increasing it to three due to our new table food experiences lol. I still use the baby tub inside of the big tub because I desperately need to give the tub a big overhaul cleaning first. (Yes I clean my tub regularly, but I want to do a more thorough scrub before I let the baby roam the tub freely)

  • Baths have become part of the bedtime routine ever since LO got a cold last month. It helped his congestion so much that we never stopped. Soap used only 1x per week though.

I originally thought that your post was about mobility IN the tub, which is a major issue as of late. LO is constantly pulling up on the side of the tub and trying to dive back in rump first.

  • We do every other to every 3 days. She takes a bath with our almost 3 year old DS and he needs them more often. she loves baths so we just give her one when ever DS has one.

Our tub is old (or maybe just cheap?) and doesn't have a built in stopper, and I keep forgetting to buy one. So she's still in her baby tub even though I'm ready to get rid of that thing!
