i have been mainly bf my 5 week old and we've gotten through some obstacles-reflux and mspi as well as some latch issues in the beginning.
There have been a few times we've supplemented with hypoallergenic formula and he sleeps a thousand times better those nights, which means mommy and daddy sleep better too.
Would it be a horrible idea to just do formula at bedtime? Would my supply drop? Would I still need to pump at night or would my body just make less milk at night and continue to produce during the day?
I don't want to switch completely unless we have to. Besides all of the benefits of breastmilk, the formula he needs is pretty pricey.

but my husband and I are exhausted, and I'll be going back to work next week so some extra sleep would be incredibly helpful.
Re: Supplementing at night?
I know it's mainly the emotional aspect that's making it so difficult for me right now. I was prepared for bf not to work from supply issues or latch issues or something like that, but I was not mentally prepared for my milk to actually make my baby sick and it breaks my heart every time he gets sick from something I've eaten. I have cut out many foods already and will gladly cut out whatever else I need to, it's just frustrating trying to figure out what else I need to eliminate.
I will continue to at least pump when we do have to supplement.
