birth story...finally :-)

I have been very busy with my twins so I haven't been able to find time to bump anymore. Every time I try to your up a long birth story I have to stop. So I figured a short and sweet one is better than nothing. I posted pics in jan 15 birth announcement thread.

My babies were born on 12/30 by scheduled csec. (Karlee Astor & Cason Thomas) I was 38 weeks and not dilated or effaced. They were planning on staying put long term :-). Anyway the epidural went less than smooth. It took about 3 tries and the assistant kept hitting nerves. Finally the dr stepped in and got it done. The csec went well, no complications. But it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever been through. I could feel ALL the pressure. I really felt like I was being tortured. (Not trying to be dramatic but that's what kept going trough my head) DH was by my side the entire time. Afterwards he had a new going appreciation for what I went through!... At 8:05am I heard a cry as they pulled my baby girl out, I started crying just add I thought I would. Then one min later I hear another cry. It was an incredibly strong feeling of relief to hear my babies cry. After I was sewn up they took me to recovery. They bright in my baby boy and dr told me baby girl had to be taken to level 2 nursery because o2 sat was low. They said it was because of fluid in lungs. I knew this was common in csec babies. But after talking to dh later the Dr really didn't tell me just how much she was stifling to breath. I nursed Cason the whole time in recovery. I couldn't believe he was here and was mine! I spent 3 nights 4 days in hospital. Recovery was not as smooth as others have described their csec. I really had a hard time. And not being able to care for my babies myself was really hard on me. My baby girl stayed one night and day in nicu on bipap but made a quick full recovery and came to my room to stay.

Things at home have been going great. We've had family here helping the entire time. (Just one person at a time) I'm thankful for all the help because I would really be struggling ifi had to do this alone. DH has been amazing but he's already back at work. Breast feeding has been harder than I thought but Im trying to stick with it. Two days after leaving hospital went to ER with boggy uterus and had to take med that caused me to have to stop BF for 24 hours. It also reduced my supply. I've had to supplement and still trying to my supply back up. The pedi said it gets easier so I am looking forward to that!
Other than that I'm extremely grateful for this wonderful blessing. After IF and wondering if I would ever have a successful pregnancy its like a dream to have these two perfect babies. (This was longer than I thought but at least I finished) Karlee is just now waking up :-) im going to try to keep up with the rest of you but I probably will just be lurking and not able to post much. Congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing their birth story. I hope you are feeling better and better each day. And it's true - the breastfeeding does get easier. You're doing a great job, mama
