  Ask people to bring their own drinks and food too if you're really looking to save money!  These are your friends and family, so they should totally understand, right?

  Oh that's a great idea. I am also having a work shower. I hinted to (begged) my friend I wanted a shower at work, so she is throwing me one. I am also throwing my shower for myself and inviting friends and family next week. It's ok I still invite my work friends who are giving me the shower, right?

  Totally!  No shame in double dipping.  Make sure to emphasize that you expect gifts, diapers and books at both your work shower and your friends/family shower.  Otherwise, your cheap work friends might try to cheat you out of what you deserve.

  The baby would love a large screen TV. (Gotta get his or her Sesame Street on.)

  I was hoping this was a thread about how to give babies showers. Can you help me with that?
  Also, it's raining babies here. Can you recommend a good umbrella?

  Don't forget to ALSO have a party after the baby is born. You can ask friends and family to bring meals you can freeze since there's no way anyone can expect you to cook with a newborn and you can also include what you still need! I mean they're coming to see you and your baby they should be considerate and help out too.
