Does your LO successfully sleep in a crib yet??

We're having minimal luck with this so far.  Putting LO in a swing (without turning it on) works really well since she feels snuggled and cozy, but she wakes up far too frequently if laid in a crib, even when swaddled.  I'm worried that if we rely on the swing too long she won't be able to transition to the crib when she gets bigger.  Is anyone having success with a crib yet?

  • Having 0 success with a crib. Interested in hearing what others have to say.

  • We have had the most success with the rock n play. DD started out in a basinette but she quickly boycotted it by about 2-ish weeks. I read somewhere that very young babies tend to prefer smaller sleep spaces because they feel more comfortable and protected. We are planning to transition dd back to the basinette once she more regularly sttn and then to the crib around 4-6 months.

  • Rock n play here as well!
  • LO sleeps nightly in the bassinet. We typically get a stretch of about 4 hours, once per night. I try to do one nap a day in the crib to get her used to it. I'd like her to sleep in the crib nightly in the crib when I go back to work.

  • Started Ellis in the crib from night one. I try to reserve crib sleep for nighttime only, in the hopes that he will correlate it eventually to being bedtime. During the day he naps in his swing without motion.

I also make it a point that if he wakes around 7:00, or anytime after it's light outside, I won't put him back in the crib. I'm hoping these circadian rhythms will start kicking in!

We are usually up every 3-4 hours at night in his crib. We do a modified swaddle as he likes to have his arms free. Some nights we will get longer stretches, and some nights he wakes between 2-4 and thinks it's time to be up. We are still all over with schedule.

I started LO in a bassinet for the first 2 weeks. She hated it. Then I put her in the bottom portion of her play yard, she didn't do too bad but still tossed and turned. Did that for another 2 weeks until I finally tried her crib. The mattress of her crib is a lot more comfortable than the bassinet or play pen so she had no issues. She tends to sleep longer when swaddled & I make sure she is drowsy before putting her in the crib.

She sleeps from 10-2 then 230-530 6-9 then naps with me in my bed until 1030 sometimes when I'm lucky!!
  • We've done crib sleeping at night since day 1. Swaddled with white noise and she sleeps really well. We do rock her to sleep with the white noise and put her down when she's asleep. During the day she sleeps in the swing.

LO sleeps in our bed at night. Will start transitioning to a bassinet and then the crib when he's sleeping through the night. Right now his crib is where all of his clean laundry goes.

This, but hope to transition a little sooner. Also using crib as laundry pile!

  • Lo has slept in her bassinet or her crib since day one. Except for a few nights where she just wouldn't have it. Those nights she slept in the swing. In the hospital the nurse would lay her down swaddled and then tuck another receiving blanket over her, tucked around her sides. If I lay her down and she wakes up I do this. I think it helps her to feel more snuggled.
  • 7 weeks old and has napped in the crib a few times, but never for long. Sleeps in RNP or on me during the day. Hoping to get mot crib time soon

We have been using the mini crib in our bedroom since we brought her home but only at night. We put her in it once she falls asleep after eating. So she usually sleeps in the crib from about 12 until 330 then eat/change, then about 415 until 630-7 o'clock-ish when DH gets up for work. Only reason she goes into her crib so late (at 12) is because DH takes care of her in the living room when I head to bed around 9 (for 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep).

I am now EFF so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. But at 6 weeks (today!) she eats every 3-4 hours at night and 2-3 hours during the day still. During the day she sleeps either on me or in her swing.

Also, she still needs to be swaddled whenever she is sleeping anywhere aside from on DH or I. I love the halo swaddle sacks with the Velcro.

  • We have an Ingenuity play yard in our room with a bassinet option. He hated the bassinet part, so he mostly sleeps in the play yard part. It's similar to a mini crib, so I'm hoping it will make crib transition easy.

He's done a few naps in his crib. Other times we put him in there without success but we let him fuss in there for a bit till he gets either a) too upset (I'm OK with letting him fuss a bit. Not so OK with wailing) or b) falls asleep.

We'll probably start trying to make the crib work more when I go back to work in mid-February.

  • We have put her in the crib since day one. There has been a few nights where she sleeps in the bassinet and a few times in the guest bed with me.

Like others have said we only put her in there if she is asleep. If I put her in there when she is awake at night she will scream every few minutes until her next feeding after that one she will sleep well but I don't have the patience for that!

Our bassinet is the rock and play kind so is she is fussy some times we start her in there and then move her to the crib.
  • Baby sleeps in the cosleeper at night which he does quite well in. We are going to start doing one nap a day in the crib to slowly get him accustomed to it (and to his own room). Otherwise naps are in his swing, the moby, the couch or the carseat.

It is nice. We only have this schedule because of when we switched from BF'ing to EFF (when she was 2 weeks old) the doctor had me waking her to feed and then once we didn't have to anymore by the beginning of week 4 she was used to it and so she has just stuck with it. She is definitely showing no signs of wanting to sleep longer though. She has never slept for more than 4 hours. At 6 weeks I had hoped for just 1 longer stretch but she votes no lol.

  • DD sleeps in a pnp next to my side of the bed (waking up usually once at night). I'm delighted bc DS hated the pnp and only wanted the RnP. I think his crib transition was more difficult bc of his preference for the RnP.
  • RNP - LO hates high the PNP and crib :(
  • Haven't really tried it for sleeping at night, she sleeps with me in bed. When I put her in her crib any other time she doesn't really fuss though. I think If she was sleeping already She would sleep in it for a bit at lleast.
  • We have success in the bassinet but he has to be swaddled. Haven't tried the crib yet. Don't stress about it. Keep trying and it should work out one day. For now just do what works.

  • DS#2 slept in his bassinet in our room for two weeks but has been in his crib ever since, other than a few occasions where he's needed to sleep in his bassinet when we have company or in the PNP when we are away from home. He naps 50/50 in his crib and PNP. At bed we've started his routine this week which is bath at 7:30, then nurse, then story and sing a lullaby then put him down around 8. He's been sleeping from 8-2 then 2:30-5:30/6, then 6:30-8/9 in his crib then he's up for the day. It's the same routine I used with DS #1 and he is a great sleeper so I'm hoping for similar results with DS #2!

  • crib at night and bassinet during the day. we have no consistency at two weeks (today's her two week bday) but last night she slept from 9:30 to 3:30 in her crib then 4:15 till i had to wake her up at 8:20 so i had time to feed her before son's school. if only every night could be this dreamy. i swaddle her w/ a blanket during the day and a sleepsack at night. she is bf but last night we tried supplementing with 2 oz of formula before putting her down for the night.

we never even tried the crib early w/ my first son and he spent a lot of time in swing. he had terrible naps until he went from 2 to 1, so with second i started crib/bassinet early and tried not to rely on the swing too much.

she can be hit or miss during the day and doesn't always stay asleep when we put her down but she stays asleep enough that it seems worth it to keep trying and settle her down when she wakes up quickly.

if you really want to keep trying to crib you could try putting a soft blanket underneath the sheet so it's softer or folding one where you put her head so she's on a slight incline.

  • She will rest in the crib for short periods while she is alert (looking around etc) but won't sleep in it. She won't sleep in anything really except our arms haha. We've had limited success with swaddle/white noise/heating pad and then the mommaroo or RnP (we take out the heating pad before we put her in, but I think when it's warm she likes it because it feels like "us")

If you sub RnP for the swing during the day, we're doing this exact thing
  • Sleeping and napping in crib since day 1. Some nights are better than others, but he generally does very well with swaddling and white noise. We do have a mini crib due to space issues, so I'm sure that might be a contributing factor as to why he feels comfortable there.

  • If I swaddle LO, he sleeps perfectly in the crib. I sleep terribly with him in the bassinet next to me. I wake up at every sound. Now I only wake up when he cries. He also sometimes will cry for a few minutes when I first put him back in his crib after a feeding in the night. I don't want to wake up my husband, who is back at work, with a baby crying next to us in bed. Being in his own room, the cry isn't as loud. And he goes right back to sleep--he just needs to cry for a few minutes. If he was in my room, I'd pick him up and it would take forever to get him back to bed. The crib is perfect for us. My son has been in the crib since week 2.
  • Gabby is 8 week and she sleeps in the PnP bassinet right next to the bed. I haven't really tried the crib at night yet Bc I have yet to get a monitor and I am such a heavy sleeper that if she's not right next to me I won't wake up. I like to be able to hear those first few whimpers before she starts actually crying Bc that gets me out of bed so I can start making her bottle before she starts screaming lol. I'll get a monitor soon and then maybe we will make the crib transition when she's sleeping in longer stretches at night.
  • We try to get baby to sleep in her bassinet, but she will only make it 5 minutes before she has a meltdown. Mind you she's only 9 days old but so far the RnP is the only thing she will sleep/nap in.

  • DH tried putting DS down in the crib last night and he did great! We had the baby monitor on the whole time and he only woke up to eat (and it was a nice long stretch at that). I kept him in his bassinet afterward just because I'm not feeling great and didn't feel like getting up and down to feed him but it was a great start!
