male factor infertility and the difficult decisions the come with it

This is my first post...
We recently discovered my husband has primary testicular failure (with a 0 sperm count and elevated FSH). Meeting with our fertility doctor we were presented with 3 possibilities of having babies.

1- sperm retrieval then IVF (still doing testing to see if retrieval is actually possible)
2- IUI with donor sperm
3- adoption

All 3 options are scary and very difficult to decide upon. I already have pros and cons to each written down, but I'm hoping to get some more from this forum through some personal experiences.
Any input would be appreciated!

    AMH .97 as of 4/2012! ~ AMH 1.63 as of 4/2013!?!
    Him: 29 ~ perfect swimmers
    Laparotomy w/partial oophorectomy 8/2009 to remove cysts/endo.
    Stopped BCP 4/2010.
    Multiple clomid rounds from 11/2010 to 6/2011. ~ All BFN
    IUI w/clomid 7/2011. IUI w/clomid & injectables 11/2011 & 1/2012. ~ All BFN
    IVF:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embryos txfrd. ~ BFN
    BCP to manage endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.
    FET w/donor embryos #1: 10/2013 Cancelled
    FET w/donor embryos #1.2: 11/2013     ~ ET of 2 beautiful blasts on 11/27.
    Beta 1: 503(12dp5dt) Beta 2: 1035(14dpt) Beta 3: 3001(16dpt)     Beta 4: 8503(19dpt)
    Twins with an EDD of 8/15/14! Team Purple
    G&B born 6/30/14 at 33w3d via emergency c/s.

    Also, it appears the IF board and others have a 24 hours of silence thing going on right now... Hopefully they'll be back soon and able to help you. Whatever the situation is it doesn't seem to have affected the TPR and Adoption boards.

    My husband has deletion of chromosome Y, which means he has never, and never will, have sperm. I have this burning desire in me to become a mother and carry a child so we decided on donor sperm. As far as we know, I have no fertility issues. fairfax Cryobank offers Face Match where they can match the facial features of your husband to one of their donors. Check it out!! We figured a baby has to come from SOMEWHERE... And if I am able to have a child, what does it matter who/where it comes from?! That child will be loved unconditionally either way. I was in the same boat 2 years ago, and we wouldn't change a thing. Also, artificial insemination/intrauterine insemination (AI/IUI) are a lot cheaper than IVF!! Explore your options and go with what fits best for your family

    @samantha5110 thank you for sharing your experience. This week we had a follow-up with our RE a who ran a lot of bloodwork and repeat SA. Bloodwork showed no CF or chromosomal abnormalities, but showed consistent elevated FSH and slightly elevated estradiol. But his SA came back with 2 sperm! So maybe there is some hope, we will see! We have decided to try the TESE and IVF route. But I know that however we one day become parents, we will feel so grateful and blessed!
