1st time pregnant! When to share EVERYONE!

Hello ladies <3
I know everyone does things differently but I was just curious as to how long you waited to share your special news!!

Thank you for your input ;)

Re: 1st time pregnant! When to share EVERYONE!

  • I'm trying to decide as well. I had my first US today and saw the heartbeat. My Gyno said once you see that it takes the MC risk down to 5%. I'm still scared to open my mouth too soon though!

  • How far along are you?!!!  Gosh that is so so so soon exciting!!!!!!
  • So jealous you had a SO, I want to scream it from The rooftops. We have told our parents and two close friends. We are waiting to tell the rest of our family and friends until we are 10 weeks, then facebook and the rest of the world at 12 weeks. I don't want to jinks it.
  • That sounds like a great plan Lindsay!! I think we might do that too  ;)
  • I'm only at 6w3d, so it's really exciting to hear that the risk goes down that much that early on! We've told close family and friends, but I think we're going to wait another couple of weeks to do a big announcement.
  • We are telling everyone at the end of the month, made a super cheesy announcement video! :)

  • Hi everyone!  I'm also a FTM (5wks, 4 days) and almost 33.  I'm so excited I want to tell everyone close to us ... but hubs is a little nervous.  We plan to tell our immediate family and 1 close friend each to have someone to talk to, on my birthday - end of January (i'll be 7 weeks then) and then all others at 12 weeks - if people don't start figuring it out first.  The no alcohol in social environments is an easy tip-off.  1 time sure I can claim a headache... multiple times, folks will start figuring it out.
  • My DH, best friend, & my M14 BMB knows.  That's it.  As I've said on the numerous previous threads about this exact topic, I don't plan to tell anyone else until March.

I have a hard time believing your doctors stats

  • We have told my parents and will tell his parents when we Skype them next week. We will probably tell our close friends here soon I am waiting for my DD's "Big Sis" shirt to come in. We are going to let her wear it to our next dinner night and see how long til some one figures it out. Other than that because of having a history of loss we tend to keep it to ourselves til after 24weeks since that is when I had issues with my first pregnancy and its what I did with my DD.

  • We are 6 weeks along now and haven't told anyone yet... I feel like we have this big secret (which we do)! We want to tell everyone but this is our first pregnancy and we are super nervous. But we are planning to tell our parents this week! And if we can hold out that long, we will probably wait to share with all our siblings until we have our first US in Feb (which will be 10 weeks along). Not planning to make it public until the 2nd trimester starts. Good luck everyone!

  • My doctor told me the same stat when we were able to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks. Chance of miscarriage was approximately 5%. But it still is a possibility. I am now 7 weeks and have told our families, best friends and some close work friends but will wait until 12 weeks to announce to everyone else!

Didn't dig terribly deeply, but these were in top 5 google

Yes, but those are saying in the absolutely perfect situation where the sun is always shining and the wind never blows north-west.  Also, yay google.

"So long as no other complications are present" is an important part of those stats

I told four good friends because I needed help navigating an upcoming work/hiring situation and my hubby told a close family member. I'm waiting until after my ultrasound at 8 weeks to tell parents. Thereafter, I plan on keeping this private for as long as possible as we already live in the public eye and want to keep our private lives private.
    Me (27) & Hubby (40): 1/22/11
    EDD of 1st: 9/11/15
    PhD grad date: 6/1/16
  • I am 6 weeks 5 days. We got to see our little nugget on the ultrasound yesterday (he/she is the size of a pea!) and also got to hear the heartbeat at 124 bpm. We were informed that it's a great heartbeat for being so early and it will, indeed, rise with growth. We have told our parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, cousins, bosses, and closest friends. In my opinion, the bigger the support network and the more people we have praying for us and this sweet baby the better :) Good luck to all of you on this incredible adventure!
  • We shared with a few close friends, and i plan to tell everyone around valentines day! We are so excited
  • It's your pregnancy it's your news! I suggest you tell Whenever you want to! There are pro's and con's to telling to soon or waiting to late! I'm the type of person that has no secrets. I told my whole family as soon as I got a BFP! I'll deal with the cards that God deals me! And if something happens at least I got to enjoy and be happy about the precious little life inside me!
  • My husband and I shared the news with everyone we see on a regular basis (family& church family)and some friends at 5 weeks. We are first time parents and are so excited.we just didn't see the point in waiting! keeping my child off social media though, people that follow me (even old distant friends) really don't need to know my business like that.
  • Currently 7w3d, we found out on Christmas Day ourselves. On the same day, Hubby told his mom and dad, as I told my mom and sis. As if today, not a lot of ppl know, maybe just 6 others. My hubby is very superstitions, so we will announce it during our second trimester.
  • I think the doctor meant the risk goes down 5% not to 5%
  • We are waiting to tell at 15 weeks. I want to say we are pregnant and expecting a boy or girl. Hoping baby view u/s will tell us gender at that point.
  • I found out today at 4 weeks.  Normally I would wait to tell anybody but tomorrow is my Dad's birthday so we can't resist the present of baby goodies for his birthday. So parents will know tomorrow and a few close friends that I would want by my side if anything happened.  We will wait to tell friends and the rest of the family till after our first u/s which I will schedule Monday and then Facebook around 12 weeks or so.
  • Nope. You read that correctly. As long as you are in fairly good health and are staying away from all the things you're supposed to, it goes down to 5% chance of miscarriage after seeing the heartbeat.
  • I researched online and it also says only a 5% risk at that point so her doctor is correct.
