  Hi there. I'm sorry your post isn't getting the attention that it deserves. There has been some managerial stuff going on with this community tonight that has unfortunately made many of the members of this community go elsewhere.

  
  

  There have been a few posts about quad screen results and elevated results on this board. There's a magnifying glass at the top near the page numbers, and if you use that, you can search for some specific terms, and you may be able to find the posts. I don't have any experience with this, but I really hope that your elevated results end up being nothing to worry about. Good luck!

  I don't have any experience with this, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. Remember that 1/9 means there is near 90% chance that everything is ok.
  
  A good friend of mine was 1/2 chance of down syndrom after her quad screen. He was born without DS or any other problems.

  Really sorry you are going through. If you want peace of mind you can speak to your OB about doing further tests like CVS to know for sure. Trisomy 18 is one that you want to know earlier than later so that you can make an informed decision. I'm wishing you all the best.

  Here is my happy ending story for you.  My sister was told that her baby had a 1/20 risk of Down's. She continued along and decided to not think about it. As her pregnancy progressed, they did further tests and found out the odds decreased dramatically to something like 1/100 and Eliza came out with zero genetic defects and just turned 2 a couple of weeks ago! Hope this story makes you feel better xx

  justincase83 I am assuming you got one of the newer genetic blood tests.  I would push back on your insurance to cover it.  I understand that it is covered by anyone over 34 and also anyone with elevated risk results.

  @akmhbm924‌, I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. As a FTM I don't have much experience with any of these tests. We had our nuchal done in December, originally I was against it but with DS and a 3 finger defect being so prevalent on my husbands side, we decided to go ahead. Everything came back normal which was a huge relief! Hopefully everything comes back okay for you. Please keep us posted and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!

  So sorry you are going through this. When I was pregnant with my DD the quad screen came back with an increased risk for an open neural tube defect. It took about a month to have the additional testing and I can say it was the longest month of my life. Everything ended up being alright. I hope it is the same for you!

  Honestly I've heard only negative things about the quad test. My Dr said she never suggests that test. It causes more harm than good. You more than likely will stress and panic for no reason BC your baby is fine and the test is not perfect. So I'm going to say... I'm going to say that test picks numbers out it's butt and your baby is healthy. My thoughts and prayers are with you. At this point maybe do the amino test to get that out the way and know for sure your baby is fine

  I don't have any experience to share (first hand or with people I know IRL) but I just wanted to drop by to say that I'm sorry you got such a stressful result but, as PPs have mentioned, try to focus on the flip side: you have an 88.8% chance of having nothing be wrong.   My doctor said 80% of positive quad screen results come back as normal during the second blood test they do. I know that's not comforting to hear right now because there's always the "what if". Just remember that this blood screen is not diagnostic and it does, unfortunately, have a decently high risk of false positives which is why they don't typically jump right into an amnio after the first quad screen comes back positive.

  Ask for your ob to run Harmony testing. If they don't run it, call around and find a clinic that will run it, and sends it directly to ariosa labs. It's a DNA test and they can be spendy if your insurance doesn't cover it, but harmony is free to anyone whose insurance won't cover it as long as it is run through ariosa diagnostics! Feel free to pm me if you have questions.

  I had something similar with DD and her Down Syndrome testing.  I had a CVS done and that came back normal.  She is now a healthy 3 year old with no chromosome abnormalities.  Hope everything turns of well for you.

  Fingers crossed for you but I agree with pp and do know someone who had the same situation just last year and her baby is perfect healthy. Impossible not to be scared but only 4 days and you'll know. Good luck, hope to hear good news

  I understand the stress you are feeling. I just went through this for an elevated risk of DS. Everything worked out in the end, but the waiting for the tests and results were the hardest part. Sending you positive thoughts.
