Flexible insert for flange on breast pump

Has anyone tried the soft shield or shield insert (for example, the Medela Comfort breastshield or the Ameda Flexishield insert)? If so did it make a difference in comfort or how much milk you were able to pump? Is it difficult to use or clean?

    I was reading up on ways to keep my milk supply up and this was one of the suggestions, I had never even heard of it but I see that you can buy them on Amazon.
