Winter coat advice

We'll be back in the States for the upcoming winter and I bought DD a jacket from Gap while it was on sale. I got a 3T and a 4T but I can't tell what size I should keep. We do not need a jacket now and will not need a jacket the year after so I really don't want to just keep both.

Any STMs have an opinion on how much she'll slim out in the next year? Right now she's got an adorable chubby toddler tummy and the 4T zips around her belly but I don't think it would last another year on this growth pattern and the arms are really long in the 4T. If she slims out a lot I think the 3T would be better but I don't want to hold onto a tiny coat for the next year to find out it doesn't fit. Any advice?

    If it were me, honestly, I'd return them both and just buy one when it gets closer. It's so hard to predict this far in advance. However, between the two I'd keep the 3T because I can't imagine DD fitting into a size 4T in another year. She is only now getting into a few 24 mo/2T items and still fits into a lot of her 18 month clothes. She must be a little on the small size though - what size is your daughter wearing now?

    What size is she now? DS is wearing a 3T winter coat and with his other layers, it's pretty snug. I don't think he'll be able to wear it next year. 

    PS I'm so jealous that you don't need a coat right now!

    I agree that it depends on her size now. DD is in a 3T coat this winter and it is getting snug and short on her. Length had always been my issue with her. She will not fit into a 3T next winter.

    We are the same as @court115‌ DS is wearing a 3T winter jacket. The arms are a bit long but the body is good. I'm hoping he will grow up not out this year so he can wear it again,if not at least his brother will be able to wear it in a couple years. I'd probably keep the size 4 if she won't need it for another year. I'm sure she will grow into it at some point.

    DD is pretty average in her size. I think maybe I'll keep the 4T, we might need it the year after if we decide to take a vacation. It gets chilly in Colombia anyways and if she's like me 48 degree lows call for a winter coat.

    After living in warm weather places I definitely feel like you get colder faster than usual! After living in the Caribbean I felt like anything under 60 was too cold for a couple of months :)) I would keep the 4T because she will fit in it eventually whereas the 3T might not be a good fit and you wouldn't be able to use it at all!
    I am definitely a Floridian! The weather in Bogota is at least steady but it's definitely a bit cooler than I'm used to, I need to stock up on sweaters.
