Baby Names

Annabel vs. Annabelle & middle name suggestions?

Which spelling do you prefer?

Also, we are at a standstill with our middle name discussion.  We are thinking of going with "just" something pretty as opposed to a family name.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

  • When I think about how long we spend agonizing over middle names vs. how often we USE or tell anyone our middle names, I am always surprised.  Hardly anyone tells people their middle name on a regular basis.

Annabelle would be how I would spell it and I would go with a nice simple middle name. Annabelle Marie is the first thing that pops in my head.
  • I prefer Annabelle, and I would say something short and sweet would make the best middle name.

    Annabelle Jane

    Annabelle Rose

    Annabelle Mae

    Annabelle Louise

    Annabelle Renee

    Annabelle Claire

  • I have a cousin named Anna-Belle.  It's her first and middle and she was called Annabelle her entire life. So, that's an option.  She loves her name too!

Mae is one I'd thought of - pretty!  I prefer the Annabel spelling too.  And while I do love the literary reference, we will not be using "Lee" as the middle name :)

Personally I would use Lee in a heartbeat I love the literary reference. Haha.

I agree: when in doubt, short and sweet. I love all of the suggestions above.

Those of you warning against (or in PP's case, advocating for) mn Lee are warming this English teacher's heart!
  • I like Annabel best, and I agree with PPs who suggested a short and sweet mn.  Lots of good options, but I wouldn't use a name that starts with an L since the fn ends with the L sound.
  • Please do Annabelle
  • I like Anna, no belle
