Breastfeeding

Curious with lots of questions

Hello ladies,
I'm due any week now (FTM) and I've read quite a bit about breastfeeding on Kellymom, books my DH has gotten me, and watched youtube videos, but I feel like I'm missing some key points.

Within the first feedings with baby, will I offer both breast to him? I understand that he will only be getting colostrum, but does that help bring in my milk in both breast or does it work together regardless of the breast he suckles?

When my milk does come in, is it more important for me to offer both breast again? If he only takes one breast, what do I do with the other? Wait for the next feeding and offer that one? I'm concerned about plugged ducts or mastitis if I'm not offering both and he prefers one over the other.

I know it's process and every child is different, it's just something I always think about. I'm sure the nurses will help me and any LC on duty can answer, but I'd love to hear your feedback and experiences.

Thank you mommas
