Hi all.. I'm completely new to this. This is my very first discussion & post. So... I'm sorry if it's a mess. My name is Ashly! I'm married to my person. He's my world. We have a 3 year old little boy named Jaxs. (FIRST- a little background on us) When I was 20 I had Jaxson with another guy and he completely left. He wasn't ever in the picture (3 almost 3 1/2 years later.. still isn't) Which honestly has been the best thing for our family. I met my husband when Jaxson was almost one. He came into the picture, completely took on the roll as daddy and its been perfect ever since. Just a few months ago, my husband was able to adopt Jaxson as his own. It's the most amazing experience we have ever been through. ANYWAY, last January the husband & I have been trying to have another baby.. Our second child but FIRST together. Here we are just passing a year of trying and still nothing. Last month, my husband & I went to the OB to see what we should do next. He gave me a blood test to check my thyroids and a few other things. All came back just fine. He put me on Clomid & had me start taking prenatals regularly. My husband also had to do his test. His came back a little different. They said only 50% of him is working and that some of the little "guys" (what he called them) had curly tails. We aren't really sure what that means. We are going to see a specialist the middle of FEB. Until then.. HELP. How many of you have been successful with Clomid? What does the curly tails mean? With only 50% of him working and curly tails on some, can we still possibly conceive? Will the Clomid help? I am so so down on everything. EVERYONE around me is either getting pregnant, having babies, etc... There are commercials on all the time about babies about pregnancy. I am a photographer and just recently, I have had 3 women book birth story sessions with me. I am struggling. Maybe I'm crazy. I just need comfort... I guess.

  • Hey, it doesn't sound like you are on the wrong board. PPs have given you excellent advice regarding the Clomid. Highly recommend seeing an RE. They specialize in getting people pregnant, whereas your OB specializes in keeping you pregnant. As for the MFI, I do not have an experience or advice with that, but Lemon is a great resource.

    All Welcome

  • Thank you to all you lovely people! You're all great. Probably a stupid question, but I am taking your advice and trying to change my username. How do I do that?
  • Think I got it changed. Thank you, again. & Thank you for all your input with me TTC.
  • Sorry that you find yourself here. I think PP's covered suggestions, just wanted to say welcome.
  • Something that wasn't addressed was the "50% of him not working." Do you mean that his count was half of average? or something else? My SO actually has the half is "not working." His urologist found that SO basically has a natural vasectomy on one side. As a result his natural numbers were about half of what is average. The specialist (probably a urologist) can run additional tests like testosterone testing to try to figure out why sperm count may be low. There are medications and vitamins they may recommend based on what they find. Just remember anything your husband starts doing to improve count, motility, or morphology takes at least 3 months to see results, so you may have to be patient. Good luck
