  I wish I could help you. I'm actually going through the same thing at the doctor's office I work for. Last week he dropped my hours by ten. Stay strong and keep asking for work, are you allowed to pick anything up from other nurses?

  Yeah I've been asking my fellow nurses if they need any help. Thanks for your replies. Also it's not just something I can "buck up and deal with" as this is financially affecting me. If I'm not making any money I can not pay bills. I've reached out to my other employer to see if they can offer me any hours in the office, hopefully that will work out.

  I think you just need to buck up and deal with it. It sounds like the company is just doing what they can to prepare for your leave, nothing out of the ordinary. Many women have projects shifted from their desk to someone else's early so that things can flow easier when the time comes for you to take your leave. Does it suck? Yes. But business has to continue while you're gone and they need to be prepared. As to whether or not it is "fair," you are a per diem employee and they are not required to give you anything. This isn't a fair / not fair situation IMO. Also, I understand you've worked for them for 2 years, but have you had to take an extended LOA during that time? This is probably their normal procedure, coupled with the fact that business is slow. I think you've got to just deal with it until you return from your leave and get more patients again.

  I second this.  I can understand why they would not want to give you any new patients.  What if this new patients needs go longer than 3 weeks.  Then they have to bring in someone else while you are on leave.  My company is doing the same thing.  They are not giving me new accounts because they know that I'm leaving in 2 weeks.  I can understand how frustrating it may be but the fact is you work per diem and case by case.  They are trying to cover all their bases and be prepared for when you leave.

  My honest opinion: you cannot control everything in life. Does it suck? Yes, of course it does. You unfortunately cannot dictate what hours and how many you work. If you owned your own business than sure but you don't. You're employed under someone else and all you can do is continue to ask for more hours. This doesn't of course mean you'll be grated your wishes but it's worth a try. Also, maybe consider this a blessing in disguise. Our bodies are doing amazing things and maybe this is a way for you to catch yourself a break. Enjoy it because soon enough your life is about to be taken over by a tiny human.

  It might be a blessing in disguise.
  
  Someone called off at my job at the hospital yesterday and I was doing two benches (the work of two people) in like 100 degrees because they can't regulate the damn temp. Not fun! Rant over.
