I normally don't start my own threads but I'm getting almost nothing on Dr Google.
When I was born my right leg turned in at the hip. The doctors thought it was my foot and even had me in special shoes until realizing the problem came from the whole leg. They had suggested surgery when I turned 9 to break my leg and reset it in place, which my mother declined. She put me in ballet and gymnastics as alternatives and it helped like a charm! I've always had back/hip pains throughout the years and can feel the leg doesn't quite match the length of my other. However, now that I'm pregnant I feel the discomfort ten fold.
Does anyone here have any experience or insight with this and being pregnant/labor and delivery? I do see my Dr today and will be bringing it up to get more answers.
Re: Congenital Hip Dysplasia
I started to panic about it because I did not want a C-Section. So my next appointment I mentioned it to my doctor and she said that it had nothing to do with the delivery and that the pain was just part of pregnancy and the pelvic area stretching. She did say the pain might be worse for me than for a normal pregnancy but congenital hip dysplasia shouldn't really have any effect on the actual delivery or pregnancy, at least as far as the baby's safety is concerned.
I did have like a whole week of keeping a heating pad on my hip because of the pain but it did go away eventually after about a week and a half. I still have a little pain after walking for more than like 5 minutes but it's nowhere near what it was during that one week.
But I did have the surgery, and you said you did not so I imagine the pain might be worse. That is as much help as I can be I guess.
