Cloth Diapering

New Mom

Hey everyone!

I'm a new mommy-to-be --> due the end of May! I'm really looking to do as much organic and natural things as I can financially & with time.
At this point I'm looking on advice with cloth diapers (what you prefer, experiences, ect.)

Would like recommendations on brands that are organic and use hemp for cloth diapers :) thank you!

also- what disposable brands do you use as alternative?

Re: New Mom

  • greenmountaindiapers.com has some organic options for their cotton prefolds and fitteds. I'm not sure about their hemp, though. But my understanding is that in general hemp cultivation doesn't require as much as cotton in the way of pesticides. I could be wrong about that.

As far as covers go, there's PUL or TPU covers, which would not be organic, or you could use wool. Wool is popular as an overnight option, and I think there are a few people here who use it full time. I believe Disana wool covers are organic. Or if you are crafty you could source your own wool and sew/knit/crochet your own.

Disposables -- We use Bambo Nature for the occasional laundry-free travel or for one of DS's daycare, which is adamant that they won't use cloth. They are a bit pricey, though, so I'm glad with cloth we don't go through them very fast.

  • Welcome! I am due at the end of February, and these ladies have been super helpful to me. I know grovia offers some organic cotton liner options.

  • Aren't Bum Genius Elementals organic?  They aren't my favorite because the crotch is wide to me, but I know people LOVED the old style elementals.

I think you're right, but I wasn't crazy about the fit, especially on my beanpole baby. Also I wasn't sure if the OP was interested in synthetic covers or not, since those obviously are not organic.
