I think I'm going to make a digital version. A book like this seems so dated to me, and I tend to do everything electronically, so I'll probably make a template up and then insert the information and add pictures that way. I'll probably have it bound and printed on each birthday, so it's a child's yearbook, so to speak.
I bought a Carters 3 ring baby book. It is very similar to the one my mom used for me. I like it because I can add pages anywhere. My mom would 3 hole punch art work, hand and foot prints, and special cards she wanted me to have to keep....
I bought one at BRU for sentimental value, and I will make yearly photo books with Picaboo or wherever for each year for each kid, eventually adding quotes from them as they start talking.
I've been looking on Amazon for something cute but haven't decided on anything. I can't seem to find one that has album pages at the end for pictures. Also, I've noticed they are all very gender specific. It would be nice to find something a bit more neutral. Anyone else having this issue?
Don't have a plan for this yet. Loving the digital options/suggestions! Hopefully it'll go better than my pregnancy journal which I've written in once.... I am awful about keeping up with things like this!
I got DD's at Babies R 'Us and honestly I only update it every few months if not longer. I would love to do one of those fancy online ones but I haven't had the time for something like that. I barely have the time to develop pictures the old fashioned way and put them in the book. But I think its better than doing nothing.
Film? Oh sweetie, you really need to find yourself a digital camera. It will change your life!

I was at Target yesterday and read through a Sophie (teething giraffe) baby book. It went up to age 2 and had several pages at the end to add pictures. It was also gender neutral.
I'm still debating getting a traditional book or using an electronic version.
I got a cute one for DS at barns and noble. It has milestones up to age one. Plus spaces for pictures and mementos. After age 2 it only has a couple pages for ages 3,4, and 5. Which is fine because I plan to make yearly photo albums as well as albums for big events.
Yup! Bought one at Hallmark. I have "fun handwriting" and think that's a great way to really personalize it (rather than going digital )Either way you go, have fun telling you child the story of his/her life!
My sister-in-law got me a preganancy/first year book for Christmas. I haven't been good about updating it over the past few months because I've been so busy (plus, I doubt that in the years to come DD is REALLY gonna want to read about how her mom had leaky boobs and heartburn, haha), but I definitely plan to be more diligent about updating it once she arrives. It's extra special since my SIL and BIL (who she's married to) are going to be DD's godparents!
I was looking at a baby book in Walmart the other day that was nicely gender neutral, and had some pages dedicated to the pregnancy at the beginning ("day mom told dad she was expecting!", "1st time mom felt me move!", etc) with the majority of the book dedicated to the 1st year and a couple of pages each for years 2-5. There were places in the book to put in photos. I liked it overall, but held off on buying it right then. Now I'm glad I did cause I like idea that a PP had of a 3 ring binder type one so you could add in extra pages and child drawn artwork, etc
I am so glad this was posted because it has completely slipped my mind !! Now I'll have to go look for one I really like the idea of digital ones because its so convenient but I'd rather have a hard copy and write in it myself. My mother passed away when I was 13 and she had a hard copy book that she wrote everything down in about her pregnancy and when I was born, and it's such a touching reminder of her love for me when I go back and read it and see her handwriting. God forbid something happen to me, but if it did I would want my daughter to have something like I did
I love the MushyBooks I found on Instagram/Etsy. I am having some trouble justifying the price for it though! They are so modern, neutral and unique! But I am worried I will spend the money and then never use it!
I have the belly book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal for my pregnancy and I got the baby book by her for Olivia's baby book. It's gender neutral and super cute! Very easy to fill out! You can find it at Amazon or Barnes and Nobel. She also makes a birthday book that I have, too!
I got this one on amazon. It is really cute and gender neutral. It looks like the details are embroidered throughout but really the paper is just kind of raised. Weirdly the price increased $10 since I bought it. I went to retrieve the link and thought, "omg did I really spend that much?" Turns out I didn't they just artificially raised the price for some random ass reason...
My fav local store owner gifted me with a retro one she found. It's from the 30's and is adorable. The nurse back then signed their name in a spot for it but no one ever filled out the rest.
We're doing a regular baby book from babies r us, but I also started a gmail account for our daughter and my husband and I write to her. We're going to keep this going until she's in high school and give her the log in so she can go in and read our letters to her from the time we found out we were expecting until then. I thought that would be something cute for a birthday or going off to college or something like that.
Re: Baby Book
My SIL bought one for me when I had DS. It's really cute (and really empty because I suck at filling it out). She got it from the hospital gift shop.
