TTC After a Loss

Anyone else had VERY slow falling betas? (Hcg, d&c, Previous losses, etc clinically mentioned)

Hi ladies, I had a d&c 5 weeks ago. Two weeks post d&c my hcg was 140, 57 the week after, 29 the week after that and 17 last week. I had a tetraploidy, which apparently puts me in danger of a partial molar, and my slow dropping betas don't exactly rule it out. Anyone experienced this? Previous mc's (without d&c) also had slow drops, but I don't think it took this long. I'm just over it and would like to get this show on the road and try my luck with an FET. And for your trouble, I've included a clip from Big Bang Theory that I found hilarious. (https://youtu.be/XCV_sULzioY)
Yup.

I'm just commenting again because your use of the word "very" in your title is bothering me. If you have been reading other people's posts, or checking out the blog, you'd realize that 5 weeks isn't classified as long...
    this.

  • Sorry ladies, every time I go for a blood draw my case manager seems surprised I still have hcg. I wasn't looking for google or dr. Google, I was just seeing if anyone else had experienced something similar. The reason I said very was because the number started pretty low to start with, it wasn't in the thousands and seems to be crawling along. Thanks for replying, and I guess I'll just keep waiting it out.
    Yup.
  • @leloyd‌ they did the genetic testing at the time of the d&c. The paperwork said that I had less than a 5% chance of it not being a partial, bc of the tetraploidy, but complete was ruled out. My re has just tracked down the numbers, and keeps saying, well it's moving, but slowly... @ktlovess, me too, that's why I asked. :)
    Yup.
  • After my loss/ectopic surgery it took only 2 weeks for my HCG levels to drop from 11,000+ to 300. It then took almost 6 more weeks to go down that last 300 - the lower the number the longer it took. It's normal.

  • I had an early loss as well my numbers seemed to have taken "forever" at that time as well. It took 6 weeks for my numbers to go below 5. It just takes time for your hormones to regulate themselves. Be patient, you are close to being done with the process.

  • I am not sure if this is a "dead thread" technically, but posting anyways :) I hope everything turned out OK! I am currently at 6 weeks post D&E and betas seem to be slowly falling- 76, 40, 27- and my RE thinks so too: she is doing a follow up ultrasound/bloodwork in 3 days. So, your question was completely valid. Also... you shouldn't feel the need to apologize on a forum for simply asking questions. I utilize Fertility Friend forums- women drop in with questions all the time, and you can pay it forward by answering others' questions and offering them your support. There are many different forums with specific groups, and we come and go when we need to. It's been very helpful for me over the last few years on this journey. Good luck and best wishes for you to get your "sticky bean" in 2015!
