Healthy Living Check In -1/12/2015

Morning ladies!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  The year is still young.  How is everyone doing this year so far?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!

  • Hi @menrandes! Thanks for the check in

The good - 2 workouts last week and we went snowboarding Saturday!

The bad - there's a lot of chocolate in my house from Christmas. I should put it away but I keep eating it.

    The proud - nada

The plan - at least 2 workouts this week. Try to stop snacking so much. I only have until the 26th or so before I can't diet.

QOTW - I have super thick wavy hair in. In jr high I wanted short hair. Not good. Picture like a giant triangle of hair. I need the length to weigh it down!

    PgAL welcome

  • The Good: Got a gym membership, signed up for a half marathon AND convinced my hubby to sign up for the gym as well. I feel exhausted even though I haven't even done anything yet!!

The Bad: We brewed beer and bottled our cider yesterday... which meant we drank a lot! Drinking is where I get stuck. We used to do a "no beer in the house unit Friday" thing. Might have to get back to that. Tough though, when your basement is filled with homebrew and hard ciders...

The Proud: We are doing meal planning so there is healthy food in the house throughout the week. Both of us are super busy in the evenings, so if any meal is going to get screwed up, it is dinner. Making plans and doing shopping before hand really helps with that.

Your Plan: Keep up meal planning. Get to the gym 3 mornings a week and keep up with at least one outdoor/active activity on the weekends. Then when spring comes start training for the half marathons.

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style?

Every hair style I've ever had except long with no bangs. I have super straight hair that won't do anything other than be straight. Everything else I try with it ends up looking like messed up straight hair. We keep things long and plain in this house.

  • Thanks for the check-in @Menrandes!

The Good: I feel good. Last week involved some changes with Smoothies for breakfast everyday and then a second one twice that week for dinner after the gym. I was worried that I would be hungry, but it has been good. I feel energized like I did when I got a B12 shot years ago.

The Bad: We went to a friend's house to watch the game Saturday night. While there, we ordered pizza. It was a drunken fourth meal.

The Proud: I ran 5 miles both days this weekend. I also rode my bike for 5 miles right after the run yesterday.

Your Plan: I plan on going to the gym for classes three days this week. Monday and Thursday's class will be followed by a Smoothie dinner. We planned it better this week, where I cooked extra dinner last nigth so that it can be leftovers reheated for DH's dinner tonight.

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style?

Like many of you that have already posted, I tried a shorter style but did not think about the hair weighing less. I tried a bob and it flew up in strange ways. It wasn't like it flew up the same all around. No, there were sections that made up their own minds. I grew it back out as soon as it would!

     My Chart

  • Hello ladies! Some great prouds on here already!

The Good: my fridge is so full of fresh fruits and veggies, and I have lots of new recipe ideas I am dying to try. (but H is sick and only wants chicken noodle soup so I've been eating leftovers of the same thing for days).

The bad: We had ice cream last night. But it was the pre-portioned ones, so I suppose that makes it less bad.

The proud: I got up this morning and worked out for 30  minutes then shoveled the driveway for 15ish. Then I had a smoothie. Starting the week out strong!

The plan: keep up the 30 minute morning workouts and keep up the smoothies and 10 cups of water. Hopefully I will start seeing some weight move off again.

  • Hi everyone! Looks like a lot of our ladies are making progress in the new year

The Good: I lost 3.4 pounds last week! This is from tracking my calories and entering what I eat into my fitness pal.  It helps me be accountable so much.

The bad: I drank way too much with friends on friday night which was my cheat day but I went overboard.  Oopsies!

The proud: That I have a goal and am actually talking myself into keeping it and staying healthy. I'm great at procrastinating or thinking to myself I'll start losing weight eventually.

The plan: To be more active this week.  I have dance class on tuesday and wednesday night so hopefully that will jump start me back into wanting to exercise.

  • Congrats on the 3.5 pounds @catvaughn5002!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • The Good:  I lost a pound somehow last week.

The Bad:  I had a cold that took hold last Tues and so I didn't exercise Thurs or Fri and didn't eat all that well over the weekend.

The Proud: I started the beta series on Focus T25

Your Plan: Continue the beta series and get back on track now that I'm feeling better.

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style? In the early 90's, the hair pulled back with long bangs in a huge, long, hair-sprayed curl on the side of my face.  =))

  • The Good: I did my intro seminar for my surgery and enrolled in the program woth my insurance.

The Bad: I drank a lot, and I'm having a bad food day today.

The Proud: I'm moving forward and making good decisions for the long term.

Your Plan: Continue tracking food and working out.

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style? When I was a kid I wanted a short bob, but I guess I didn't describe it very well because I ended up with this weird boy haircut. I cried and cried. Short hair is not my thing.

  • I knew someone was going to post while I was responding to everyone...

@renegadwhit - Congrats on signing up for your surgery.  We all have bad food days, don't beat yourself up for it.

@anarossi01 - That does sound like a lot of money to use the pool.  Are there other places that have pools near you?  Congrats on the bra fitting.  It's the little things...

  • Thanks for the check in @Menrandes‌
The Good: I've done pretty well with my work outs so far along my eating plan.

The Bad: I didn't do so hot yesterday during the Packer game . I ate pizza, chips, and drank. Today's a new day though, and I'm back to my plan, so we'll see how that goes.

The Proud: I'm down almost 3 lbs (2.8 to be exact), which is pretty exciting.

The Plan: I'm keeping up on my diet and work outs. I found out a friend at work is looking to do some exercising, so I think we might try to go together, which would help me be more accountable.

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style?   My mom used to perm my hair when I was younger.  I honestly think it looked more like a mop top than hair.  Needless to say, I have some pretty embarrassing school pictures  in the  90s.

  • @schuebja Great job on the weight loss!  I think if you don't eat pizza and chips and stuff every day and if it was a rare special occasion kind of thing, then you're good!  But brush it off anyway and get back on that wagon.  :)  FX that you'll be able to work out with your friend.  Working out with a partner is far easier than working out alone.

  • @readinglove I hope the scale starts to reflect the hard work you are doing! What do you use to log food? Does it track calories for the day?

  • @readinglove Have you always worked out so many days in a row? I know some that it actually hurts more than helps because they aren't giving their body enough time to heal and rest.

    Just a thought!

To add...DAMN SCALES ARE OUR ENEMIES!!!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • @readinglove keep kicking ass! Good job! I'm sure the scale will figure it out soon.

The Proud: I am not beating myself up over little setbacks

Your Plan: Fit in more salads, I haven't been good on the veggie front this week

QOTW: What was your most embarrassing hair style?

Yikes, when my BFF in middle school and I gave each other makeovers.....it was a new look alright...
