I went in for my AS today and all was fine. They need to get a few measurements still because the baby didn't cooperate.

Anyhoo..

When my dr looked at my glucose numbers he was less than pleased. I thought I had been doing okay. The women that taught the GD class said if we take our sugars at 1 hour instead of 2 - they need to read less than 130. Well, my two hours are under 120 and most of my 1 hours are well below that. I'm so confused. My fasting numbers I've admittedly been struggling with, but he was concerned about all of them!! Wtf am I supposed to do?! I'm not on meds yet, but he basically told me to change my diet and do better and we'll see what happens. Ugh :(

  • @starkbaby22‌ those post-prandial numbers look good to me, too! That is odd. Maybe ask to see a specialist if he gives you more grief? I see an endocrinologist separate from my OB and she's great.

    Fasting > 95
    1 hour > 130
    2 hour > 120

    I'm meeting all of them with the exception of a few fasting numbers and a few after meal numbers when I know I overindulged or slept on the couch after meal. I've also been sick with bronchitis or something else since the week of thanksgiving! My 1 hour numbers are surprisingly good, but he advised me that there isn't enough research to prove that 1 hour numbers are as accurate as taking a 2 hour. Most of my numbers are taken art 1 hour and he literally rolled his eyes at me and said to NEVER test after an hour. Always 2. Ugh.

  • Sorry @starkbaby22. I have the same numbers and while I'm not having any overages except if I'm sassy, I'm surprised yours has an issue with them. Did you talk to the nutritionist again? Are you having any better luck with fasting numbers by changing up the nighttime snack? Did you find something that works better for you? Sorry for the questions, hope it goes better for you!

  • I've tried everything for night time snacks. The only thing that's been working is lots of fiber. So I'll eat a fiber1 bar or fiber1 cereal. This is my 3rd time around and it's so much different this time. I hate it.

    I haven't gone back to the nutritionist because my insurance won't cover it. And I can't afford to pay 200 bucks every time I go, plus my other dr bills. :-/

  • I have found that macadamia nuts are my magic bedtime snack!! I eat 5-6 of them at around 10:30/11, and my fasting numbers generally range from 75-92 at 6:30/7:00am. This is down from my earlier numbers of mid 90s to 105ish. Everyone is different but this seems to be the only thing that works well for me.

    I'm sorry your OB is giving you such a hard time. Will they refer you to an endocrinologist if you ask? That should be covered under insurance I would think, but my nutritionist was covered also and I notice yours wasn't, so it could be different depending on insurances and/or how they code the bills....
  • I'm really not sure. He told me to switch up diet and see where I'm at in a week. I guess I'll get into it then with them. I'll take medication to have a healthy baby, but hate the idea of relying on meds for anything.

  • My limits are > 95 for fasting and > 120 for after meals. The only time my numbers are high are when I've overindulge at a meal. My fasting #s have to be taken as soon as I wake up or they go up. I basically get up to pee then take my number and they are in the 70s-80s, if I wait they are re over 100 sometimes. They never told me to test after 1 hr.
