Hi everyone,
I know there have been several posts on hip pain, but I thought I'd start a new one because I found a complete solution for my pain and wanted to spread the word.
My hip pain was waking me up several times throughout the night. Whatever side I was lying on would become crazy sore and I'd toss and turn to the other side. A pillow between the legs didn't work for me and sometimes made it worse.
Our mattress is firm- not crazy firm, but definitely on the firmer side. So forked over some money and bought a 3" thick memory foam matress topper.
What a difference! My hip pain is totally gone. I know not everyone's pain is the same as mine, but if yours acts up at night and is aggrevated by side sleeping, I highly recommend the investment in a memory foam topper. Be sure to get one 3 or 4 inches thick... I've read that thinner ones are inneffective. Hope this helps some of you!
Re: Hip pain...solution?
I just removed my foam mattress topper last night because my body was not getting enough support. Glad to hear it's working for you. Last night was the first night in a while that I got any rest.
It's interesting....I got a fitbit as a Christmas present and have been tracking my actual sleep...it's scary...restless at least 18X in a 9 hour period with only 4 hours of actual sleep.

Well, call it pregnancy brain or whatever, but when I thought I ordered a king-sized mattress topper, I had ordered a full instead. If you have one of these, you can imagine what a pain it was to get that thing rolled back up and back in the box to return it. Oy.
That said, my hip pain has subsided somewhat, and the pain is now mostly in my low back (top of my pelvis). The heating wrap I use while at my desk helps as does Tylenol. The body pillow at night is good as is another pillow behind me for additional support. Things seem to be looking up!
