Autumn's Birth Story

At 40w2d and 3 days before my scheduled induction, I woke up at 3am 1/11/15 with a contraction that gave me sweaty palms and I knew it was worth timing at that point as all others had not been so severe. They were coming quite erratically but the pain was always the same. I decided to go downstairs and watch TV after they were still coming for an hour so I didn't risk waking up my husband and daughter. After another hr of contractions they were coming around every 7 minutes and were painful enough that I couldn't walk or talk through them, I woke up my husband and called my stepmom. We showered, got my daughter up, and headed out the door. We got to the hospital around 7:30am and contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes at that point. I was 3-4cm, and 80% effaced. I got admitted and after more intense contractions and a check around 11:30ish I was 5cm and still 80% so I opted for the epidural. It didn't quite work on the left side but did help some. My OB came back around 2:00pm and broke my water. At that point I was 6cm and 100%. Within 20 minutes I was writhing in pain and started involuntarily pushing through a contraction so I had my husband yell for a nurse to come check me. She came in with my OB and didn't even need to check because she could see the head so they got everything rushed in and I pushed for 15 minutes and was able to avoid tearing again! Autumn was born at 2:49pm weighing 7lb2oz 20in. She was a super chill baby up until about 3 hours ago and now she doesn't want to stop nursing. She cries if she gets taking off or falls asleep and pops off, just like my first daughter! We are getting discharged this evening and I can't wait to see my two daughters together!!
