Talk to me about baseline u/s for IVF

I am temping this cycle for shits and giggles and according to FF I Oed the day of my positive OPK (got the positive at 8:30am fwiw). Not a huge deal, except of course instead of my baseline appt falling on the day before I expected af to show, it now falls on what I expect will be cd2. My question is, is it normal to do a baseline u/s checking AFC when you have your period? Sounds like an awful mess, but I could care less if it means I can start stims on cd3 and not be delayed a cycle. 

Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
 3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal. 
IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur. 
ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

    I'm not doing IVF but all of my baseline u/s are on cd2 or cd3. It never ends up as messy as I imagine it to be.

    Jan 2015 IUI#4 (Femara + Ovidrel) - BFN
    Feb 2015 IUI#5 Converted to TI (7.5mg Femara) - BFP 3/17/15!!!
    Beta #1 82, Beta #2 202 Please let this be it.

    All my baselines were on CD 1 or 2! That's when you're supposed to have a baseline!

    I had mine on CD 2, it wasn't as messy as I thought it would be!

    IUI #1 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #2 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #3 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    My baselines (before IUI) have always been on day 2-3. And they really are not as messy as they sound!

    Mine are always messy, but they expect that shit. Everyone has to come in the heaviest days of their periods. I always bleed all over the pad on the table, then I stand up and bleed all over the floor lol.

    My baselines for medicated cycles have always been CD 3 or 4. And it's super messy for me, but I bleed really heavily for about 5 days before it lightens up. I'm with @potatocastillo on the messy factor. All over the pad, all over the floor when I stand up. My OB puts a pad on the floor where I stand up though, so it makes cleaning up easier. If they do that for everyone, they must expect it :)

    4/6 - 13w2d - heart rate 165bpm :)
    5/5 - 17w3d - quick ultrasound looks like a GIRL!

    I hope it goes well!  FWIW, I've never experienced too much mess with this, so maybe you won't either.  I mean, I had to clean myself up a bit afterwards, but no--flow.

    This is my first IVF cycle and they wanted me in on day 2.  All my previous clomid/IUI cycles it was CD 2 or 3.  For me I occasionally bleed some on the pad on the table but that's it.  You will be just fine.  Like everyone has said, they've seen it all.
    Clomid/IUI #1 Feb 2010- BFN
    Clomid/IUI #2 Mar 2010 - BFP April 2010 DD born Dec 2010 :-)
    Started TTC #2 Dec 2011 
    IUI #3-5 Aug thru Oct 2014 - BFN
    HSG revealed one blocked tube but was unblocked during procedure
    IUI #6 and 7 Nov/Dec 2014 - BFN
    IVF #1 Feb 2015 - 19 eggs retrieved, ZERO fertilized initially, 2 fertilized with rescue ICSI, then 2 more then following day, all 4 frozen
    FET #1 planned for mid-March
